Hello, TSN. Putting out some feelers to gauge interest.

Would you be interested in a dedicated section on the forum for individual shave journals? There, a member would have the opportunity to start and continue a blog at his/her own discretion as it pertains to the continuing experience with wet shaving. A person could share his thoughts, opinions, etc. Other members would also have the opportunity to interact with the various OP/bloggers, furthering the sense of community. Naturally, all forum rules would be respected, shameless shilling and other ungentlemanly conduct would not be permitted. Sorry, that should be obvious, but it must clearly be understood by those who participate.

Thank you for your comments.

I like the concept. I really have nowhere else to really document these things. My friends, my social media pages, etc. no one is really interested in my ramblings about shaving. My one thought is, does this defeat the purpose of posting a topic, say about comparing products, thoughts, opinions on various things? On the other hand, I think it could be good for posting thoughts on things that maybe shouldn't require an entire post. Sometimes I just have an opinion on maybe one simple aspect of a shave or product that maybe doesn't seem to an entire topic and/or discussion dedicated to it.. I considered starting a shaving blog, but I have no idea where to start, or who would even read it or give a crap.

You know what Mike? I think that’s why most of are here. We tend to get each other’s shave geekiness, when very few people in the tactile world give little more than a rat’s ass about our daily shaves.

Thoughts, ruminations, pontifications, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera…. I think it’d be a fun addition to the forum. Wondering if others feel similarly.

I don't doubt that's why. It's why I'm here. I have plenty of friends and social media folks to jabber about guitars with (no shortage there), but no shaving enthusiasts other than the few artisans I follow. Hopefully more folks here will agree.

I think it's a good idea. More communication is always better. Would other members be able to respond to my rambling?

The proposed Shave Journal section would allow any member to start an ongoing thread for his individual journal.  A thread, for example, could be called "Charlie's Journal."   It would then function as any other thread.  The op can continually post journal entries in his thread, and and any other member can post responses.

I think it would be a nice addition to the forum.

I tend to agree with you concerning finding anyone to speak shaving with. It's kind of a private thing for me so I come here to find brothers of the blades and what is being used for that personal time of the day for most of us.

I think I'm not in favor. It seems like another set of data that I would need to search-read-scan to find matters of interest. Makes me think of photos I take. Are they on the camera, iCloud, OneDrive, Facebook, etc. Too many places to hunt. I'm old. I liked it when there was one phone and MaBell was the one neck to choke.

By not in favor, you mean in a non-participatory way, right Max?

Consider this.. even if you choose to not post your own blog, if and when you do check in on another member’s thread, you might be able to offer a fascinating/helpful/experienced insight that could help boost another guy’s shaves.

You understand of course, I’m not arguing against your position, just trying to look at the potential of such a forum addition from different perspectives.

Thanks for your input Smile

Personally not interested... BUT that doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice for folks who are into that kinda thing.  If it hung off of its own tab, those who aren't interested could just ignore it.   Those who wanted to monitor it, could check it every day.   And if there's a particular stooge you really don't like, he'd be easy to avoid (like that "Bax" guy - what a bonehead noob!  Don't look at his blog - he hasn't a clue!)
Everybody wins!

ON THE OTHER HAND:

If folks are covering their latest experiences, tech, soaps, etc, in their blogs, they probably won't populate the existing topic areas (Shave of the Day, General grooming/hygiene, skin care/hair care, etc.) because they already wrote about in their blog!  It may serve to DISorgainze the Shave Nook and make it more difficult to use if someone is trying to find out details/experience/history about the new Flare Tip model he picked up at a yard sale yesterday... and he has to search endless blogs about bigfoot and UFOs in order to find someone who's talking about vintage Gillette Flare Tips.  the current organization seems to work.  If it ain't broke...

I can see arguments both ways.
It might be good... or not.
Helpful, huh?

Biggrin  I think you may be onto something regarding organization. It may create chaos. It's hard to know what the unintended consequences may be.
