Back in February, I used the Wolfman form to get on the list to order a stainless Wolfman when my name came up.

Well that happened at the beginning of June.   They said once the invoice is paid, there are no changes.

So I panicked.   I originally said that I waned a WR1 .67 blade gap.   I'm not a fan of 'really aggressive' razors but I don't like a 'too mild; either.   So when offered the opportunity to make any changes, I said .... Okay lets go with .74 blade gap ... final answer (and I never heard the buzzer indicating I got that wrong)

Got it Friday.   Beautifully finished.  Gave myself a two-day growth and shaved this morning.   I 'like' it ... but I don't 'love' it ... and I really want to love it - it was just a little more of an aggressive feel than I like.

My choices were to send it back and get the .67 that I originally wanted but changed my mind on (ALWAYS go with your gut!) ... or I could keep it, get on the list again to order a new head and sell the .74 - I am not really a 'flipper' - so it's boxed up and ready to be picked up by UPS for a trip back to Canada.

Ugh - oh well.   When I get it, I know I'll love it

You made the right move.  If you're spending that much on a razor, you absolutely have to love it.

I’m happy with my decision to send it back for what I feel will be better for my shaving style, pressure and what not ….. I just hate that means I have to wait longer…. I have a beautiful’ ‘Marie Antoinette’ Wolfman right now …. Luxurious ….. Stunning ……… no head. Smile

I didn't realise he was accepting returns. Anyway, I do love my .67 OC. It sounds like you went for the SB, I find the OC smoother actually. Less aggressive and it turns down the blade feel for me.

I begged  Smile   ... no just kidding ... they are great!   Plus I had used it only once - I knew immediately that I should have gotten the .67

Good to know exchanges are possible. Hope you enjoy the .67 when you get it.

I've dealt with James going back when he was relatively unknown, and a Wolfie WR1 polished ran about a buck fitty with stand .. he has always been super flexible once you enter the Portal.

Used once or a 100 times, used is used. I never understood why someone would expect, or even ask, a maker to exchange a head or return a razor for a refund as in the case of Blackland...even if it is offered.

DuFour made exactly what was ordered. Why should he replace heads until people find the gap they want? Do people realize he is now stuck with a used head he has to eat? I dont think he sells returns, neither does Shane.

Why not accept some personal responsibility for your actions, BST the razor and lose a few $$ (consider it a rental fee) then get back on the list and wait for another gap?

To each his own, I guess.

Yup ... to each his own ... I asked, they agreed.  Had they said 'nope we don't do returns' ... I would have sold it (likely for a profit and not a loss) and got back on the list with no hard feelings - after all, I have other razors - but that didn't happen and he agreed to take it back for an exchange.

Certainly, if you don't want ask for a return, or even take advantage of one that is 'offered' - that is certainly your prerogative.

You could always ask if Wolfman could send you the 0.67 base plate. Over time you should find yourself moving towards more aggressive razors.

Not sure I agree with that, if anything I'm moving towards milder razors as my technique refines. I do own more efficient razors but the milder ones get used more.

That was my first question- if I could buy the second plate- but I was told that James machines the cap and plate as a matching set- so no go there

My tastes swing toward increasingly aggressive razors to experiment with, like that incredible BBS that the Wolfman Guerrilla gave me the first time I used it.  Yet at times, I reach for the Gillette Tech, my most mild razor.  I like having the wide variety on the shelf to suit my mood as it changes with the wind.  Same reason I like a variety of creams and aftershave splashes. There's just something cool about having aggressive and mild razors to choose from, side by side on the shelf... a certain panache that can't be matched by cranking up/down the settings on an adjustable.

Just a follow up- the .67 gap head arrived yesterday and I was able to have my first shave this morning with it. I am super happy I asked for the smaller gap. So this chapter has ended and I am entering another “I have enough razors (for now)” period …. Then at some time in the future another razor will catch my eye and I’ll be on the hunt again.
