I've got a couple of travel size razors. They won't fit any shaving brush stand I've seen, but I had a little wet brush that needed to hang while it dried. So I quickly made a stand. I had some 3-conductor house wire from a previous DIY project around the house. That'd work! I stripped off the outer casing to remove the 3 wires inside (black, white, and uninsulated copper). I snipped off some white and tossed the rest in the trash. I bent the wire into a shape that'd work as a brush stand and cut off the excess.
Here it is:

The bottom loop (the base) was sized to accommodate the base of my little stainless steel lather bowl (not in the pics). I can leave the brush high to dry, or hang it low (to soak in hot water while not submerging the knot). And the little holder will accommodate both of my little travel brushes. Yay! If I ever want to change the size of my stand for a wider (or narrower) brush handle or knot, it's easy to re-bend. It's not very noticeable with a brush in it, but it's pretty ugly without a brush or if viewed from behind.
It was too easy! It was maybe a 5-minute project that turned out to be a pretty good solution. How do I know it was a good solution? My bride saw my brush drying on the sink in the Master Bathroom and didn't realize it was just bent-up junk wire. "Oh, you have a new brush stand. That's nice." No reaction. The hanging brush camouflaged the ugly, so it didn't catch her eye as something that'd "have to go." Thus my temporary solution has become a permanent one. Maybe I should have done a prettier, straighter, or more symmetrical job. It's crude, but it works... kinda like me!
I think I'll call it the Quantum Electro-Radio Cosmic Brush Stand-2000 (Patent Pending).
Because that sounds so COOL!
