Ever since the pandemic restrictions took effect in March 2020, I'd been working from home.
Recently I returned to the office for the first time. I have a stash of shaving gear and goods there.
It sure was fun to reacquaint myself with what I have!
Working from home has also made me lazier about shaving...more willing to skip days and forego the full ritual.
I feel like the pendulum is swinging back.

The pandemic is what introduced me to this crazy "old school razor and goofy brush" world. Never had time for it before. I'd do a quick Norelco and rush out the door. Telework during the pandemic gave me an extra hour or two of time EVERY DAY! Had it not been for the pandemic hype and work-from-home thing, I might not have ever gotten into the wet shaving world.

Rory, how did it feel going back to the office? We’re you excited about being back, or would rather still be working from home? If you don’t mind me asking, how do you make your commute to and from the office? Car? public transportation? Bike or walk? I know, I’m nosy
Btw, it’s really fortunate that your stash of shave goods didn’t “walk” while you were gone. You must have been relieved, I’m sure.
From March through June of ‘20 I shaved Monday through Friday while working remotely. I had sessions with students and meetings with administrators every day. Last Summer I think I shaved maybe two to three days a week. When school resumed in September, ‘20 so did my regular workweek shave schedule with a Saturday or Sunday thrown in for good measure. When I retired in January this year, I maintained my 5-6 days a week of shaving - there’ve even been a few 7 shave weeks! It’s fun, takes my mind off stress, and uses up the plethora of soap and blades in my stash.

Congrats on your re-entry, Rory (at a couple of levels)! I retired since the pandemic began, and an office friend actually packed my office and delivered the contents to me in discreet boxes (so my wife has no idea that most of my office was “surplus” shaving gear). I promptly hauled all the boxes to our storage unit.
It’s funny that during my work time during the pandemic, and my retirement since, I’ve only missed one daily shave. (My then bum knee was flaring up and I felt sorry for myself.) I doubt I’ll miss another. It’s likely unhealthy how much I enjoy shaving, but there are worse afflictions, I suppose.

I was happy to go back. Working from home is all well and good, but I prefer the office setup ergonomically and from the social perspective.
I take the subway (although we are a bit leery with regard to public safety these days).
The office stash was in a locked cabinet!

I went back to my office yesterday to blow the cobwebs off my desk.
I found MY old shaving supplies, too! Like my emergency razor:

It ran on two AA batteries. I actually had to use this a couple of times over the past decade.
Wet Shaving found its place *after* the pandemic in the Baxendale home...

Yes, the social aspect is huge. Kids especially have suffered tremendously these last 18 months. Hopefully it’ll be a safe start for the new school year. Although I retired last January and don’t have to deal with working in a school any longer, my eldest daughter teaches developmentally disabled youngsters who have not yet had the chance to receive the vaccine. They also have more than a little difficulty wearing masks.
Stay safe on the subway…
