There are lots of shaving forums out there. Many of the folks in the SN also patronize other Forums as well. Yet I've noticed (while lurking) that folks tend to prioritize one forum over the others.
I generally spend more time in the SN than the others. Often I won't even check the others, except on an occasional basis. Why? I like the "Shave Nook" graphic at the top of the page. The little barber pole icon in my bookmark bar is cute, too. Obviously I engage in Deep Thought, Introspective Analysis, and Careful Consideration before choosing an online forum to call home.
Why do YOU patronize the Shave Nook and prefer it over all others?
What KEEPS you in this forum?
Conversely, what drives you FROM the others and into the warm, Bay Rum scented comfort of the Shave Nook?
Inquiring minds want to know!
:-)

Best group of enablers I have ever encountered! Honestly, it was the forum I happened upon. Lurked for a bit, then decided to jump in and I'm glad I did. Great people, solid level of trust here, and people like to participate and discuss shaving, like to hear about product experiences (even if it is something they already have themselves). It's fun and informative. I have learned a lot since I have been here.

I did a lot of forum research before joining. I can't remember all the particular reasons. But I'm pretty sure it boiled down to a good field of info, overall pleasant tone of posters and probably a few other things. Almost withdraw when I figured out the green stamps couldn't be cashed in anywhere anymore. But by then I was drawn in too far.

I like the Shave Nook for so many reasons. The people primarily. Really nice people. TSN is full of mellow attitudes and good vibes. Unlike other fora, it’s not a cliquey place. There’s easy conversation with like-minded people. It’s a great place to learn about products and learn from others. We have a multi-national membership which I find refreshing. Also, it’s an escape from the stresses of the non cyber world.
Edit: Re: Stamps… my first good baseball glove was a Wilson Harvey Kuenn model. My folks got it for me with S&H Green Stamps when I was about 8 years old. The glove was huge! I don’t think it fit me well until I was about 12 or 13. Interestingly, the glove was a lefty model, but Kuenn batted and threw right handed.

I agree with this. I would also add the people don't jump out there with recommendations of only the products they like which in reality do not fit the actual criteria asked for in a recommendation.

I’m agnostic. I’m a practicing member of four forums: TSN, ATG, TSR and SMF. I was also a member of two others, but quit them for various reasons. Unfortunately, SMF, the first forum I joined many years ago, seems to have lost its vigour, but I still visit it. I find the remaining three have quality members, even handed moderation and intelligent discussions. At the moment I see no need to select a “primus inter pares”.

I like this place. It's a solid #2 for me, only due to my own opinion that there's another forum that is geared much more toward vintage than new hardware.
That place is my go to for research on vintage, and I've made good friends over the 10 years I've been on it.
I've been here a year or two maybe, and it's a great vibe, much better than my distant #3 that is a popular #1 for many...it's a distant 3 for a variety of reasons, mostly as my favorite people on #1 have been banned from #3 for ridiculous reasons.
