O K Wink I realize we’re just a week into Single Edge SEptember so this may be pushing it, but I think it’s good to keep the shaving fun and excitement going.

Here are my three OCs below. One more is arriving this week, and I am seriously considering adding a fifth to the mix.

Dust off your open comb razors folks. Buy one or two new razors. Before you know it, OCtober will be upon us. Who’s with me?

I'll bite Charlie - admittedly an easy one for me, as save for the Schicks & GEMs I tend to the OC's anyway.  And I dimly recall one of the Magazine Repeaters had an open comb ..

Excellent. It’s great to have you aboard Gary. It’ll be some sweet shaving fun. I just know it!

There are definitely more OC lovers here. Let’s give them a chance to jump in.

No rules folks. Simply use an open comb razor for more than 50% of your shaves. Well I guess that is a rule of sorts, so only one rule folks.

As we get closer to OCtober the excitement will be palpable Biggrin

I'm in.  My only open comb is my PAA DOC Ascension Twist stainless.  But it easily gets the nod more than 50% of the time.  I'll make a point of it next month.

An excellent plan. Looking forward to reading your posts Smile

I’ve heard about the NS November, but can’t imagine not shaving for an entire month. I like shaving. It’s fun! We’re interested in reading of your OC escapades Biggrin

It is the most wonderful time of the year.

You can pick up an inexpensive, user grade (or better) Gillette, or something new for that matter, and join the fun!

My only OC is the Wolfman Guerrilla -- probably too aggressive a razor to use more than 50% of the time.  So I'll enter the "Kinda Playing, But Not Really, Since I'll Violate the Only Rule" Division and use it a couple of times a week.  In every game, SOMEONE has to finish last...

The other rule is do whatever works for you. Do it any way you like. If it feels good, then do what you want. It’s just a little bit of cyber silliness. Dip a toe, wade a bit, whatever W00t

Staying in the spirit of SEptember I shaved this morning with my RR Hawk V3 using a fresh Feather Pro, Mike's Natural lime (delish), Simpson Trafalgar T3 (my desert island brush), Thayer's witch hazel with 2% salicylic acid (aspirin - meant to soothe acne but works fine for a close shave), Pitralon Pure (i will miss Pitralon when it's gone, no more for NA), Prep balm (in the square bottle) and a dash of Pre de Provance (mixed in the palm with the Prep). Next shave with a Hawk V2. 3 pass BBS. what a way to start the day!

Okay I want to play in October so ordered an open comb razor this morning.  I had been looking at this razor and a Yaqi equivalent for some time now and decided what the heck and pulled the trigger.  Of course I had to include a few soaps and aftershave splashes to justify the free shipping.    At least that is what I'm going to tell my wife....   Angel

I feel I've joined a gang of enablers who are trying to help me spend all my disposable income - what little there is anyway!!    Sisi

I have 2 Yaqi open comb heads and a Merkur 25C although I never use this one because it does not shave I, it is one of the first razors I bought.
Charlie, you are fun!

That’s an excellent lineup you have there Pedro. I recently picked up the Merkur 41C from BullGoose. The head is the same as on your Merkur. My shave yesterday was truly outstanding. I was quite impressed. It was very, very smooth, and absolutely zero irritation. As much as I enjoy the cool factor of my Gillette NEW, the Merkur gave me a smoother shave.

The handle on the 41C knocks me out. I’d purchased the solid bar version, 42C, twice over the years, and wound up gifting them to a couple of buddies who expressed interest in switching to DE. So now I have that groovy handle again with a different razor head. Win, win!

Man, OCtober is going to be fun!

Charlie, isn't 42C working for you? I have it and it works very well for  I, although at first I did not like it, then I gave it more tries and delighted.

Hi Pedro. I currently have the same solid bar head on a reproduction ball end handle. I really like the 1904 style handle. When guys wanted to try DE shaving, the 42Cs were the least expensive way for me to help them get into the experience. Now I have the same great 1904 style handle on the open comb head.

Can somebody ID this for me please? It’s been in my drawer for seven years. I used it yesterday for the first time since putting it away after using it only once seven years ago. Other than the reduced condition of the plating and some ever so slightly bent end teeth and some minor dings, it seems in pretty decent condition. I don’t detect any cracks in the neck. It wasn’t a scary shave as it was the first time I used it. If I can get past the wet brass smell I’ll use it during OCtober.

It’s a totally different creature from this, am I correct? I’ve been told it’s a NEW long comb. I like shaving with it a lot. The handle is a reproduction from Razor Emporium. Chris Evatt did the nickel replating on the head.
