This came up several weeks ago - here's the thread: http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=...ht=proraso
I have used the Proraso in a tub, tube, and can. The tub seemed to lather up best, the tube took more product and more work, and the can was an entirely different animal... it was (relatively) awful. Didn't really give me the protective layer that both tub and tube provided. The can was quick and easy, though. If you HAVE to use canned goo, then at least with the Proraso canned goo you can FEEL like you're getting something better than generic Gillette Foamy or Barbasol, but in actuality, I think they're pretty similar. There is some legitimate value to the "It's an Italian shaving product and I'm cool!" aspect to using Proraso, but I think you're buying "feelings" rather than a higher quality foam. I guess that's why folks buy Monte Blanc, Rolex, and Ferrari (I'm a Bic, Timex, and Yugo kinda guy). I've had the best luck (and most fun) with hard soaps and brushes (badger, boar, and horse). Artisan or off-the-shelf, the hard soaps seem to work the best best for me!
