In the last 6 months I have bought my blades 100 at a time with an average cost of about $0.10 to $0.13 cents each including shipping (normally free with minimum quantity purchased).  I don't buy what others sometimes refer to as "top" blades but do use Voskhod, Personna-Crystal, Astra Superior Platinum, at this price.  If I buy other small quantities to test they can sometimes cost up to $0.25 per blade due to the small quantity.

Some think once is plenty, others eke a dozen or more shaves out of each blade. I changes blades every week, and is happy with that.

Usually 6 but will not hesitate to change if any pull or irritation occurs.  Most people I believe get about 2 or 4 per blade depending on their prep, beard, soap, etc.  I did change a test blade after only 2nd stroke that pulled very hard for me.  Donated the rest of the tuck for someone else to try.

Hard to calculate costs per blade when the number of shaves per blade varies widely.  I had bad luck with a Viking Sword blade -- one shave and I threw the blade away.  I left the rest of the tuck on the shelf for weeks.  On a whim, I tried one again... and again... and again... As of this morning, I'm on my SIXTH shave with the same blade!   Cost per blade is one thing, but figuring out what the ACTUAL cost is according to the number of shaves per blade, then factoring in the cost, etc, made my head hurt.  I just buy blades I like (or that have groovy names, like Viking Sword, Wilkinson Sword, Sputnik, or Shaverboy) and use 'em without thinking about cost.  Theyr'e all so cheap it doesn't REALLY matter.  If I don't like the blade, I won't buy any more of 'em.  Fortunately there are TONS of choices on the market right now.
Perhaps THIS is the Golden Age for DE shaving!

Try a small assortment of the more popular blades, see what you like, shave with it for awhile, do the math.
edit to add; You can achieve a great shave with a modest investment, but you have to start somewhere. Cruise the swap & shop on this forum for some bargains.

What I have found is that there is no  consistent relationship between the price of a blade and the quality of the shave I get.
