I have seen this shaving cream around since what seems like forever. I've always wanted to try it and finally broke down and bought a tube. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by it. It lathers up really well and it gives a nice, comfortable shave. One thing that I definitely noticed, which may be a good or a bad thing depending on the person, is the scent. I do like the scent of lemon and was hoping to enjoy this one, but to me it seems to be a very, very light scent and what I can pick up of it, the lemon just seems to be OK. That said, I had no trouble getting a good lather using a synthetic brush. Applying the lather felt very slick and had good coverage. The resulting shave was very close, comfortable, with no nicks or irritation whatsoever. I think it's a pretty good cream and I have enjoyed using it so far. I think some of the things that would hold it back is the name Derby, as I think a lot of people would associate that with the blades. Also, pricewise, it's on same level as Proraso, at least per ounce. That is some stiff competition as Proraso is very well known as a brand, and for its performance and value.

Mike, I went through a tube of lavender Derby about 10 years ago.  The scent was subtle, which can be a plus or minus depending on the user.  The cream produced nice lather and I would rate it a good value.

That really does about sum it up. That was exactly my thought. The scent is very subtle and that may or may not work depending on the user.
