Great deals! I bought the SS Outlaw and the Outlaw V1 synthetic brush soft shine. I have been admiring the brush for sometime and this was a perfect opportunity to buy it at an amazing price. Looking forward to receiving them.

I believe they will. I am likely finishing open comb OCtober, so it will be about 2 weeks for the razor, but I will use the brush right away. Ah, the anticipation.....

Hey, me too Mike! I was eye balling the Evergoose for a while. Added a couple of soaps for good measure. I figured that since I put a new guitar on hold, I might as well treat myself to some other trinkets Wink

I can't blame ya. My old shop still has a 00-28 I really want. Even the deal I can get, it's hard to justify the money based on my level of playing and how little I play acoustic. And I have a Seagull and 2 Taylor GS-Mini's.

I had to do a little digging for the first part, Jack. Seize the day, I know. This is what I learned at phrases dot org dot uk:

The full quotation, in Latin, is

Quote:"Ars longa, vita brevis, occasio praeceps, experimentum periculosum, iudicium difficile."

This can be rendered into English as 'life is short, the art (craft/skill) long, opportunity fleeting, experiment treacherous, judgement difficult'.

That would lead us to interpret the meaning as 'it takes a long time to acquire and perfect one's expertise (in, say, medicine) and one has but a short time in which to do it'.

Ars Longa, Vita Brevis was chosen by the 1960s progressive rock band The Nice as the title of their second album. The 'art last forever' meaning of the phrase now makes that look like a poor choice as the album is now largely forgotten.

Like the quote
“Life’s too short to shave with a dull blade.”
ars longa, vita brevis echoes the sentiment.

I had to get some Alpha Shaving stuff, carpe diem!

Indeed. I get it. Makes complete sense. Still, there’s something of a disparity between the $0.25 blade I already own and the $3K+ guitar that gives one a few moments of pause and reflection. Devil on one shoulder says, “Get it. You know you want it.” Angel on the other shoulder says, “Start a college fund for the grandchild.”

This is the major issue with instant gratification - it takes too long
