My wife and I are visiting NYC for a week in March and a visit to this wet shaving Mecca is a must. I need advice as to which location is best for my purposes. I know many of you have been and feel free to give me any related advice and suggestions.
Thanks.

The midtown location at 53 E. 34 St. is where you want to go.

Ken, it’s a real fun stop for a solid half hour (or more?) of shave related browsing.

Joseph is right, bring a bag with extra packing space.

Be advised the aisles in both locations are very tight. Either store will be fun, but Ricardo’s advice is sound… 34th street is where you should go if you have time for only one stop.

When you’re finished shopping head over to Park Avenue Tavern (NE corner at 39th and Park) or Refinery Rooftop (38th off 6th). Rooftop is best with reservations.

Go to the 34th St location, and budget a good chunk of time in there. Unless your wife is incredibly patient and wishes to join you, she may want to make alternative plans while you peruse Pasteur’s. You’ll be a kid in a candy store!

Depending on your wife, bringing her to Pasteur's could be hazardous to your budget.  There is a huge selection of cosmetic, skin care and other products of interest to women at Pasteur's, and your wife could end up outspending you.

The location on Lexington is a short walk to museum row. The restaurants I’ve been to in the area are generally high quality, if not a bit pricey. One of our faves in the area is primarily a take-out appetizing store, although you can eat in (used to, don’t really know about now…). It’s called Sables. Bring your bank book.

What is a bank book?
kidding! When I was in 1st grade, Bowery Savings Bank came to our school and opened everyone an account.

Are you able to smell the products? A big thing for me is buying scents blind, so to speak. I might have to sell my car to go there.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to have a very good budget and my wife will be busy at her seminar. It's going to be in Chelsea.  She's an instructor at a very chic high end pilates studio in the old money part of town here, her clients are part of the 1% crowd. The only time limit will be my limited ability to stay on my feet. I'm very excited about this .

We expect a full report with pictures, documenting the additions to your shave den. Have fun!

It will be an amazing experience.  There are so many products crammed on shelves in narrow aisles that it can be overwhelming.

Narrow aisles are not ideal for a man of my stature. Biggrin Not sure if I should bring cash, credit, the deed to the house, etc.

I second that. Sarge’s is really good. I saw it on a show with Andrew Zimmern, so I decided to try it out on one of my work trips. I went back more than once.

When I was a kid some 45 years ago it was a terrific deli. Last time I went was 2001, so no current review from me. However, based on the Andrew Z show it sounds great even now.
