How much to you like your brother?
Because Arko - love it or loathe it - is a tallow based soap that is nice to shave with... even if some compare the scent to urinal pucks.

Thank you sir! Mikes was on the list, declaration was just popping up with some real nice brushes as I was getting away from the scene so ill have to check i to them and the others. Ive always enjoyed Stirling  but I feel he may appreciate slightly more refined scents.

hahaha I've heard all too much regarding arko. Hes a bit refined in what he appreciates so i probably have to pass on that one. I do have a good buddy that would love it based off the no bullshit performance alone

MWF in its original ceramic bowl is on my list of nice tallow based shave soaps. Not sure if it would make your list.

Never tried fancy artisan shaving soaps so cannot comment nor recommend.

Such an iconic soap. MWF was and is the only soap I could never quite produce a rich appearing lather with. It did still perform well for me, maybe I needed to bloom more.

You certainly aren't wrong, they are always a top performer and I've never had a bad shave with any of the Stirling products. A good friend turned me onto them and they will always have a place in the stash.

For a variety of reasons I have moved away from artisan soaps this year and now prefer triple milled soaps.  I started a thread about this earlier this year and it's an interesting discussion.

Triple Milled or Artisan? (shavenook.com)

For triple milled tallow soaps you may want to consider the D.R. Harris line and Tabac.  Although Tabac has discontinued its tallow formula, BullGoose still has some of the original in inventory.

Thank you for the insight Ricardo, its interesting how the trends really switch from year to year. is there 1 particular triple milled, even if not tallow, that sticks out in your mind as a personal favorite?

For triple milled, Saponificio Varesino in Beta 4.3 formula is really great.

I totally agree with thst statement. They may be more expensive, but the presentation is nice. The tin is sturdier then the vast majority of what youll find elsewhere. They're scent are quite nice and the soap wil last a very long time! And the performance is awesome!

If you're open to non-tallow triple milled soaps, there are a number of excellent options.  I concur with the comments above about Saponificio Varesino soaps.  I've tried most of them and find them all excellent as to performance and scent.  They're very hard triple milled soaps which last a long time.   I've used an Asylum Colonia, which is made by SV, regularly since 2019.  The soap resides in a BullGoose aluminum shaving bowl and still looks almost new. The scent is still as strong as when it was new.

Indeed.  I find MWF likes a brush with more 'flow through' than many of the tightly packed 2 band brushes.
Lathers well with a slightly wetter than usual badger or boar, no need to bloom.
The ceramic dish is actually usable too - unlike many others that are too small to work with.

I tend to favor soaps that are long term stable, so not so much into artisanals that may separate or 'turn bad'.

This is one of the reasons I have shifted from artisan to triple milled soaps.
