Here is the Gillette Slim I recently acquired. It looks like it was never used. I was finally able to determine that the date code is J 1. I love it.[Image: Am46862.jpg]

Slims are fun - I got one a few years back from the BST, and I'll give it up when I stop shaving... ie: cold, dead hands Tongue

One interesting thing, I don’t have a particularly heavy or fast growing beard, but I prefer aggressive razors. I use the Slim on the 9 setting for the first pass and do a second pass at the 3 setting only around the chin and neck. Anyway, I suspect all products labeled “heavy beard” are simply a marketing ploy. Oops. I’m rambling…

That’s a beauty! Every time I see one in good shape I think of my uncle, Martin. He and my Poppy were wet shavers. Poppy had a Tech and a Super Speed, but he mostly used his Tech. Uncle Martin used a Slim. For sure. My cousin Paul and I were very close at the time, and we did frequent sleepovers. The image of his Dad shaving on weekend mornings before going to work is indelibly etched into my childhood memories.

Thanks for sharing, and enjoy many happy shaves with your new Slim!

Slim is my favorite among the Gillette adjustable razors - some say the pinnacle of Gillette's razor manufacturing before the cost cutting set in - followed by the Trac II.

Nice score - enjoy the shaves!

My four favourites are now the Slim, the Old Type, and the Red Tip. I started out with a 1951 Aristocrat that I still like, but it isn’t quite up to those three

Red Tip gets overlooked in these parts for some reason - but I prefer it to the 40s era Super Speeds.

There are different red tips. I have two Brit varieties: the rocket and the Superspeed. I think there are two USA red tip Superspeed varieties: the B4 ad the D4 (different just above the red "flare"). The British rocket seems to be the one everyone chases, and it is the one that I favour.

I have a red tip flare and it is my traveler. A little small for my big hands but works really well.

I have a Fat Boy because I always thought I was supposed to. Rarely ever use it.

I have 2 Slims because the are simply great to shave with.

I got a slim because I thought I had to have one to be part of the Cool Kids Club. Ditto for the fat boy.

My fat boy, slim, and 1960s flare tip are my three most often-used razors. After I decided how I wanted to set the adjustable razors (7 on the slim and 6 on the fat boy), I confess I've never adjusted them again.

Congrats on the sweet "new" Slim!

Not by me, I have two, a B1 and a B2, wouldn't trade them for a new Buick. Solid shavers, no drama, in fact will replace the Old Type for tonights shave.
Thanks for the reminder, tunnel vision has a narrow focus.

I like Red Tips as well. There was a time when as many as six lived on my shelf. Now down to only two, a cased A3 and an E1. Both are in excellent condition. You got me thinking, Bill. Going with the E1 tomorrow Smile

Didn't mean to derail the thread Charlie, it's like waking from a fog sometimes." Red Tips, did someone say Red Tips"? I know about Red Tips, I've got Red Tips. And so goes the life of the aged.  Rolleyes
