I haven't sold on fleabay for some time.

Last Sunday, I listed a Duofold ballpoint pen and put a reserve on the listing. And didn't think much about it. Today I was charged $14.63!

Holy Smokes! That's the fee for a Reserve listing.

And its the price I just paid for the lesson in selling. Pretty sure I won't be doing that again.

I believe they are up to 13.5%. I recently sold a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones. Customer filed a complaint, never contacted me, and eBay was kind enough to go into my balance and return the money to the buyer. Buyer claims they didn't charge up. Needless to say, I got the headphones back, powered them up, and listened to music. They are way too much for the buyer with zero protection or anything for the seller. The buyer never even bothered to contact me first. This is why when I was doing eBay at my last job for 16 years, we stopped selling with them.

I would rather sell here and actually make less. eBay simply isn't worth it between the selling fees and PayPal fees. After you go through all the trouble of the listing and selling the items, then shipping them, then the buyer goes and complains to eBay but the razor has a scratch or something stupid like that, and eBay freezes your account and returns the money to them no questions asked. I would rather sell something here for what I want minus the eBay fees and give a deal to someone rather than give eBay my money.

I never buy from overseas sellers anymore. Fleabay costs for international post is extortionate and delivery is incredibly slow. Plus I have to pay taxes on the item AND the postal charge. Often the postal charges and the taxes are higher than for the item. Oh, and Paypal charges on top combined with crap conversion rates. So, I buy locally.

Also, don’t forget that starting it 2022, any earnings of $600 or more in a calendar year (PayPal, EBay, Etsy, etc) will. Be subject to IRS taxes.
