Using shaving soaps in the shower

Like a few other guys, I have one or two too many shaving soaps. Just small amounts in most cases. You know, ⅛ or ¼ left, and I just can't get around to using it up. Or, in a couple cases, ¾ or so, but I can can't seem to feel the love with that soap.

So, in the past, I scooped it out and used it in the shower. And, it worked just fine. But, I seem to recall reading somewhere that shaving soap shouldn't be used as shower soap. I can't recall why, just that it wasn't designed for that or something along those lines.

Does anyone know about this? Is there something in the ingredients that makes it unsuitable as shower soap? It's rather expensive shower soap, I admit, but it's a nice way to use it up. I can hardly put ⅛ or ¼ container of shaving soap up for sale, and it's not worth the postage to PIF.

I've used the new formulation of C&S No. 88 shaving soap as a bath soap.  It does not lather as a shave soap but works fine as a bath soap.

Yep, I just may do this tomorrow with an old tub of mashed up B&M samples that’s been gathering dust.

I've done it, it works, it's been awhile ago, apparently it wasn't a great enough experience to become habit forming.

There have been a few disappointing shaving soaps that have ended up as shower soap in my time... one even managed to disappoint for that use, but I'll name no names.

Soap is soap, but even then...if I fall out of love with a shaving soap, I still use it as I have a decent rotation so plenty of variety.

If a shaving soap doesn't lather at all (Baume.be, GFT),I use them as a pre shave soap.
