What works best with cartridge razors for closer shave, Comfort, no cuts:
Shaving cream , or Shaving gel ,or Shaving Soap ,or Shaving Foam (in cans)

"Back in the day" when I used a cartridge razor, Canned Goo was the standard.  Shaves were OK for a routine "quick out the door" shave.  The only time I recall ever cutting myself with a cartridge razor (Trac II or Atra) was when I cut my tragus once when I was rushing too much.  (The "tragus" is that little bump of cartilage that protects the ear canal.)  Not sure the soap/foam will have nearly as much impact as your choice of razor and blade.
