I'm relatively new to wet shaving. I've been using a mach 4 and green shave goo ever since I started shaving back when I was 12ish. But about six months ago I got my first DE razor (Schick Krona) and I've never looked back.

I've got Ogallala bay rum shave soap in the mug. My boars hair brush. My Krona and a Superspeed. a bunch of different blades and my blade bank. My Groom & Clean and comb. Pinaud Lime Sec, several of bottles of the Ogallala bay rum sampler, a big bottle of Ogallala bay rum, and an old bottle of vintage Avon bay rum (which I don't care much for).

Nothing impressive, but it's a start. Seeing as how I share the bathroom with my wife and two daughters, I feel blessed to even have that much space. I've got several more bottles of bay rum, several bottles of pinaud clubman a/s, and some hair tonics on my xmas "wishlist" so I'm sure my den will grow.

Well young man, you are off to a good start. Don't worry, the collection will grow. Within 5-years you will be doing some remodeling to add a spare bathroom just for you.Biggrin

The goal isn't to build up a large collection; the goal is to get a good shave. The large collection just tends to... happen Tongue

I do like your idea of keeping the razors in jars - haven't seen that done before.

It's a shave den, and it's yours! Are you enjoying it? That's what's important.

Mine looked similar to that for about 6 months, except fewer ASs, then I caught the bug. It appears some folks are immune, you'll find out if you are.

Its a good start! And you already have far more aftershave stuff than me.
Not that hard since i only got some lotions for "emergency" situations. ;-)

thanks everybody for the encouragement. i don't see myself buying many other actual razors (I really like the shave my Krona gives me) or buying many other brushes. But I already have a dozen different bay rums and other aftershaves on my amazon wishlist, so I can see that becoming an issue.

Looks like a respectable den to me! I haven't earned my own shelf, yet - let alone two! Half a shelf & a cigar box - oh, and a cardboard box in the back of a closet.

Welcome to the traditional shave club. Not that I am an expert have been shaving like this for approximately 8 months. However, as your technique improves and in your quest to seek out the best shave, so will your desire and propensity to collect. You are on the right track and of this I can assure you; the collection will grow and grow it will. Without a doubt you will soon have more than enough supplies to last you a very long time, but the desire to collect more stuff will outweigh the logic of purchasing stuff you do not need. But after all, all we really need is bread and water, and we all no how many of us survive on that alone; not. Anyways, Happy Shaving. Sam.

We all proudly suffer from an acquisition disorder for something related to shaving, whether it's brushes, razors, hones, etc. A dozen bay rum and other aftershaves in your first 6 months? Your AD may be aftershaves. AAD - Aftershave Acquisition Disorder. The joys of manliness. You're off to a good start. Enjoy your hobby el mustango.

A few months from now you will look back on this post and marvel at how rabbits do not have a monopoly on multiplying. Wink

Sometimes folks get quite focused on how much to buy, collect, accumulate, etc. or not. What makes one fellow happy might or might not be another fellow's cup of tea, but that's OK. With traditional wetshaving, there is at least some increase in enjoyment to be had regardless of one's budget and available storage space. Not a bad deal at all considering cost savings and a smooth face are part of the deal.

Some folks, like myself, will never want or have more than the minimal amount of gear necessary to get a good shave. Others, such as Renzo Jardella and John Liss-Ronnet, have shaving collections of well over 25,000 items. Most people on the forums seem to fall somewhere in between those extremes. All seem quite happy.

Hahaha, I wondered that when I moved from a small shelf to a rather large cabinet.

So, my Shave Den has had its first growth spurt. Here's a picture:

Added some witch hazel, some dollar store soap (Yardley, Clearly Natural glycerin bars), Clubman Pinaud, Special Reserve and Osage Rub, and a little sample bottle of Krampert's Bay Rum (menthol version).

I have my eye on a Merkur Bakelite and I'm hoping a few more bottles of aftershave and bay rum are in my stocking on xmas morning...
