It arrived today this afternoon. After an initial use I can report that it’s Super smooth and efficient, Ricardo. A much different creature than the DE razors I’ve grown to love. It’s been years since I’ve used an injector design older than the Type I. The RxI’s design really takes advantage of the injector blade’s inherent strengths. I used a Chick blade, btw. Over the next few weeks I’ll give it a go with the two varieties of Japanese Schick blades in my stash… I’m very impressed with how smooth a shave it was. Really, wow! Once I master the negative pressure and muscle memory it’ll probably be what reach for after a few days of stubble.
I’ll keep you updatedSisi

KWilliams40, that is definitely a haul.  I have not used Shannon's in years, but I recall it being a solid soap.  I see they have redesigned their labels since I last purchased the soap.

What are your thoughts after a few weeks?

Hi Primo Smile I’ve used the razor for six shaves, all with the same sChick blade. Impressions in no particular order..

1, this is the smoothest shaving injector I’ve used. Granted, my experience is limited to three each Type G and I, one of each still in the den. The Asylum Injector is as, maybe more(?) efficient than the G, and waaay smoother than the I. I’ve not used any other injector razors to make any comparisons.

2, the sixth shave with the sChick blade produced some irritation on my lower neck which I only noticed a few hours later. This wasn’t apparent after the previous shaves. I tossed the blade after the shave. I have three other varieties of injector blades to work through, so truthfully I won’t reach any long term blade conclusions for at least another month or so. Still remaining to use are the Personnas in the white plastic keyed dispenser, Schick Proline B-20s and the Schick platinum and PTFE blades from the keyed dispenser. Lots of blade fun still to come!

3, the first two shaves were somewhat trepidatious. I have two spots on my face, one on the left cheek, one on my chin, that are prone to nicks when I use a very sharp blade with an aggressive razor. DE, GEM, injector, it doesn’t matter; I gotta be really careful and use the super lightest touch possible, otherwise there will be a pinkish hue to my lather. Sure enough, shave one I hit the cheek spot, second shave, chin spot. Shaves three through six were easy peasy, other than the aforementioned neckal irritation. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that there was a brief learning curve with parsing the razor’s characteristics.

4, once I gained a rudimentary understanding of the Asylum Injector’s characteristics it became obvious that for my beard and face, with continued practice, I will likely be able to consistently achieve a DFS+ shave with just one pass. It’s that good. And again, this is with no neck irritation.

5, the weight and balance is highly usable. I was initially concerned that it might be too heavy, but it is definitely not. In fact the weight and balance helps me to use the lightest touch possible. Imagine a Venn diagram of weight, balance, efficiency and smoothness.

6, the finish is impeccable. Shiny as all get out!

7, the three piece design works. Because this is my first non-injecting injector, before my first shave I practiced taking the razor apart and putting it together sans blade. Why risk bloody fingers, right?

8, the Asylum Injector fits perfectly in a rounded yoke style razor stand.

Hope I’ve answered your questions, Joseph. If you want to know something I may have missed, lemme knowSisi

An excellent mail call today. First, I got a new Blutt razor. These have received rave reviews, and I'm looking forward to using it.

And second, two 5-ounce tubes of vintage Penhaligon's Racquets Formula shaving cream. I hate the word unobtainium, but if anything fits the definition, it is this cream. In all my years of shaving, this is the only time I have ever seen it offered for sale.

I'm not familiar with that razor.  We'll look forward to your comments on it, John
