Perhaps I am odd.  I usually shave once a day, but my skin gets a little sensitive when I shave every day.
If I wait two days my neck gets itchy.
I think my ideal is 36 hours.
I'm almost sixty, never had a beard in my life.

Paul, I have often thought that somewhere around 36 hours was best for my shaves too. Just the right combination of whisker growth and skin rebound.

I’m 63 and have had three beards and one goatee. Most recently in 2013.

Great photo, Charlie. Nice to put a face to a name.
Since returning to traditional wet-shaving, I shaved daily for over 8 years and loved every shave. I have recently returned to a 40 hr/wk job, at which I have to arrive before 5:30am.
I am trying, as I believe Charlie suggested, to shave at around 2:30pm. Haven't routined it to daily, yet.
Puts a kink in the "fraghead" part of me, as I don't want to go to bed with a stank juice still projecting.

Usually 24 hours is about right for me.
I shave every day, but take Sunday off to give my manly jaw a rest.

I’ve moved to every other day and quite enjoy this cadence.

Now I'm shaving every 72 hours and it's doing great.

Charlie, the goatee suits you very well, I have had a goatee just like that for many years.

I shave 6 days a week. I'll shave a 7th if needed.

This describes me very well.  I might add if I am too busy one day I'll skip that day or use my wet/dry electric with Cremo also.

I used to shave everyday. But recently I'm leaning more toward the 36/48 hours mark, even tough I would prefer to shave everyday.

I have never been able to get through the "itchy" phase, so I have never had a beard in all my 58 years.
Chaz, thanks for the great photo. Here is myself with my girlfriend (on a vacation to England back before the pandemic)

Thumbup Thanks, Pedro! It came off permanently sometime in late winter-early spring of 2014, and I’ve been clean shaven ever since. But now I’m balder to, so I look even more ridiculous Biggrin

Never found an electric that worked for me. I only skip 1 day for 1 of 2 reasons which is always on weekends. 1st being it gives my face a break and 2nd being it allows me to use a more aggressive setup to mow down the steel wool.

I shave every other day but as mentioned in the OP that after 36 hours a shadow appears and grows darker by the hour. If I am going to be in a social setting the day after a 3 pass shave, I will do a one pass shave with buffing to be socially acceptable (well at least look that way). The one pass shave is the only time I will reuse a blade.

I shave every day without fail, only skipping a day if I’m really sick.

For years I shaved 5-7 days a week.  Sometime during the pandemic I stopped shaving with any regularity, now I shave 1-3 times a week.

I shave every evening. This is how I strike the perfect balance between the comfort of a slow shave in the evening and the need to wear a socially acceptable face all day.

I shave every day, real early in the morning.  I might miss one day a month.

And, now very recently retired, I still shave every day, real early in the morning.  Why would I deny myself that pleasure?

At the moment, we're on a driving vacation, and I still shave every day, fairly early in the morning.  However, I have to admit, I'm not enjoying it much.  Some of these sinks and bathrooms in the motels make an airplane sink seem big.  There's no where to put my stuff!  I knew a scuttle was out of the question, so I've done what I said I'd never do—brought a can of shaving foam.  I sure miss choosing my soap and brush and building my lather.

I had a beard a few times in my '20s, but don't have any desire to do it again.  Not at the moment, anyway.

Its never worth denying any semblence of personal enjoyment.
