After reading that some barbers shave the back of the neck with a straight razor, I became intrigued. My stylist always uses a clipper type device for this area at every haircut, usually at a three week interval.

I recently had a co-worker comment on her boyfriend looking like a caveman with his unruly neck hair so I've taken the neck hair matter into my own hands.

I now use a *VERY* mild, very cheap, twin blade disposable, every other day on the back of my neck all the way up to the hairline with excellent results. I just use a bit of water for this and it works perfectly without any irritation and it results in a BBS, continually groomed, fresh looking back of my neck. Obsessed? I dare say not. Smile

Does anyone else take care of the back of their neck in similar fashion or do you just leave it for the next haircut?

I only worry about it when I cut my hair once a month.

I get a haircut approximately every 3 weeks. If I waited until haircut time to cut the hair on the back of my neck, I too would look like a sloppy caveman.

SWMBO usually shaves it for me once between haircuts using an electric trimmer.

I have this one:

My barber takes care of it when I get a haircut.
If it becomes too much between I have my wife do it with a DE razor of mine.

Once a month at the barber. Uses the straight razor to clean up the neck, around the ears, and the sideburns.

That used to be my favorite part of going to the barber as a kid, the hot lather and the straight razor on the back of the neck. I haven't had one that's done that in a while though, just the clippers.

I get my hair cut around once a month, and my barber does the back of the neck with a straight razor. My neck hair grows crazy fast, so I have SWMBO touch it up once a week with a DE or clippers.

+1 It was pretty cool watching the Barber strop the razor on the ancient leather strap that hung from each Barber chair. I was always amazed at how good the warm lather felt and how relaxed and steady the Barber's hand was.

I use a DE myself in between haircuts. Easy enough to do by feel.

Shave the sides of my head twice a week. That gets the neck hairs nicely... My DE is working well on my head... Have to be careful still. I did cut myself a bit... I do the back with a mirror and a bit of luck....lol

I have to get to the back of my neck at least twice a week. Just use two mirrors and whatever razor and brush I'm using on my face that day.
