Gentlemen,
After a 20-year absence I am returning to radio. Starting Sunday, September 4, 8 to 9 a.m. central time USA, I will program and host a classical music show on WMSE Milwaukee, 91.7 FM. We call the show Obie’s Opus. You can stream the hour-long program through the radio station’s APP at WMSE.org.
I am really looking forward to the show. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and the rest of the good guys are sure to lift your spirit. And occasionally I’ll throw in a bon-bon for a bit of spice. So mark it on your calendar. Thanks.

Congratulations! That sounds like fun! I used to host an FM radio show when I was in college, at the college radio station. That was in the days of turntables, vinyl, and tube type transmitters. It was a blast! I suspect your station puts out more than 15 watts, though. I hope you have a great time wiith it!

Thanks for the kind words. I have loved radio since childhood. I remember tuning in, on our shortwave radio, stations in the Caucasus, especially radio Baku, in Azerbaijan. They had a classical music program, in Azerbaijani Turkish, and they played a lot of Russian composers: Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and other good guys. I still remember the announcer’s closing line, in Turkish: “Bizim concertimiz gutaldih.” The spelling is mine. I started as a jazz deejay in San Diego and then went through a variety of formats, including arts features in NPR. I have mostly done classical music. Imagine spending a good bit of your professional life with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms. I am a writer first, though, and radio is a step behind.
