October first I will turn 75 and my intent is to drag four shave soaps across what feels like to me the finish line. They will represent the distillation of many fine shave soaps over the years and will reflect only my preferences. No reflection of anyone else's choice is implied or intended. I've come to know what I like and whenever I stray I gravitate right back to my safe place.
To me refinement has always been when there's nothing left to take away, rather than when there's nothing left to add, so hopefully this will simplify things for someone who's wondering why he's in this particular room to begin with.

Once upon a time, wisdom gained through thoughtful experiences was highly valued by those eager to learn.

This is such a moment!

What say ye?

Here we go guys the Final Four in no particular order;
Williams, for decades upon decades it was the soap
Martin de Candre any flavor although I tend to Natural " unscented" I have three wooden bowls but count them as one soap as they all shave alike
Boellis Panama 1924, it's tallow, and it's Italian, need I go on?
Tabac.........
My Birthday gift from the girl of my dreams this year is Santa Marie Novella which is now even more special than if I had gotten it for myself, so it will get an honest
trial, and may make this into the Fab Five.

It's all in fun and no reflection on anyones choices. The SOTD thread is one of my favorite threads on this forum, and the Gentlemen who post their beautiful shaving accouterments day in and day out along with the beautiful photography have my admiration.

I see you like the classics, Bill.   For some reason I expected to see MWF on your list, but those are all great choices.

MWF is still here along with several other outliers to be used or gifted as time goes on. The final four are soaps that have been used up and reordered and stacked in reserve. No cement has been poured yet and Phil keeps throwing obstacles in my path so we'll see. I would rather shuffle than accumulate and the future still holds possibilities.
