Guys
Going to do a review on the Smart-Helix Apollo SS DE safety razor. A bit of background here...I am 2nd gen Canadian Ukrainian...my grandparents were all from Ukraine as were their grandparents etc. I know I have relatives over there who are being subjected to the absolute worst that another country can force them to endure.
OK, that's it as far as politics are concerned.
When I found out that there was a Ukrainian safety razor being produced...I was completely in. As a matter of fact, mine was the last razor shipped before all hell broke loose. Since then I have been in contact with the guys who run the company. They aint giving up...you can now order on line and even become a patron.
As far as the razor is concerned...it's extremely well made, balanced and comfortable. The construction is superb, great blade clamping and blade feel. The base has two settings, one side is mild and the other more aggressive. The mild is o.5 and the aggro is .85. I like both although I tend to favour the more aggressive.
I used a Feather blade to start and continued for 5 shaves with the same set up. Just a great shave...ok? Very intuitive and easy to figure out. Two passes with some buffing to finish off with. As the shave progressed I found I needed a bit more buffing...but nothing that would've changed my mind about the quality and capabilities of this razor.
It is in my rotation and is also one of my favourite "go to" razors. A truly well made, quality shaving tool.
Cheers

I've seen a few companies offer it and the premium is kinda through the roof...and for what? If you have a great design then SS, Brass should be enough...IMHO(12-14-2022, 03:45 AM)Huck1680 Wrote:(12-13-2022, 06:48 PM)TommyCarioca Wrote: I have 3 of these babies. One of my favorite tools.
