Butler & Crispe London

Hi All 

Interesting little shaving brush. 80mm overall height, 40mm of loft, with a knot diameter of approx. 18mm. Quite well packed too.

I have found references to Butler& Crispe dating back to the 1890s. They were Druggists and Sundriesmen. 

Unused by the looks of it, and given the funky smell of the badger hair.

Sweet little brush, Adam. I’m guessing you’re going to keep it dry?

It is! I do give all the brushes I collect a try out. If I like them, I use them for a while.


But after that they join these....

A Simpson, in my view. 1960s. Great looking brush.

That was my guess also.  A very nice addition to a great collection.

Man that old school butterscotch gives me the big wants!!

Yes, the vintage butterscotch from Great Britain is special.

I also agree, definitely made by Simpson, you can tell by that font.

Don't think I have come across that shape, either. Lovely little brush you have there.

And, yes, it is a nice cabinet. Picked it up in a sale at a very good price, not long after I started collecting. Suits the age of the shaving items, I think.
