So here is an interesting brush. A vintage 27 in pure badger. Although the Box is a bit tatty, the actual brush has never been used and in perfect condition.

I am not sure what the sticker on the box represents, but I am guessing that could be the original price?

Look carefully at the brush and see if you can spot the mistake????

I have a brush showing the same mistake. Wink

Yours is a wonderful brush! Will you use it?

I uploaded a 1968 Simpson catalogue and price list here in the Nook, and it shows the 20 series including the largest: the 27. The wholesale price is listed as 470 shillings per dozen, making it £1.19s per brush. As yours is marked as £1.15.3 (and just above that: "27") I’d speculate your brush was made and sold earlier than 1968. Let’s take 5 years off, factoring in wholesale/retail matters. Sound reasonable?

I’ll buy it off you for £2 Wink

Thanks, Shaun

I also have one other brush that has the same spelling mistake so that at least 3 we know of, I am sure there must be a few more out there.

No, I won't use it, I have two brushes that I use for daily shaving. All of my other brushes just for my collection, I see them like pieces of art and I also love the history.

I would be very interested to have a browse of that catalogue, do you have a link to the post handy.

I also have a 25 brush in the same condition as this 27 I'll add some pics when I get a chance.

Thanks for the offer but No chance  Smile

See my Nimmer Mills Chubby #1 below with the same spelling mistake Smile

I just noticed that the prices listed incorporated an increase of 15%, March 1968, so the cost of yours, factoring in retail mark up, dates your brush a little later than my speculation. Let's say 1965?

I'd love to see your other Simpsons. We all would!

How interesting! I note the 25 employs a different font, as well as the decal having no spelling mistake. I wonder which precedes the other, date-wise?

And that 72 is certainly a unique-looking brush. Great you have the original boxes, too.
