Gillette HD500 from the 59 Set, 1955/56

Went to an antiques fair today. Slim pickings, but I did pick this HD500 up. Excellent condition, I have to say. 71g. Marked “Brit. Pending 694093” with no 
II stamp. A nice, hefty, reliable razor: 

Excellent find.

UK patent 694093 seems to cover the 'hook' on the blade-locating bar, which would make it easy to slide a blade out of the dispenser without having to risk touching an edge.

A neat find The antique and second-hand shops around here seldom has anything interesting, and even less often something worth picking up.

I'm in the same boat as Hans, I never find any worthwhile shaving stuff, apparently it's all been exported to Australia. Nice one Shaun!!

Great find!  I like the Rocket and have two of them.

Yes, this is my experience also. I haven’t seen anything worthwhile in the wild for many years now.
