UK patent 694093 seems to cover the 'hook' on the blade-locating bar, which would make it easy to slide a blade out of the dispenser without having to risk touching an edge.

The antique and second-hand shops around here seldom has anything interesting, and even less often something worth picking up.

Yes, this is my experience also. I haven’t seen anything worthwhile in the wild for many years now.
