Hi All
This is a new acquisition on its way to me from Germany. It is the all plastic (melamine?) version of the Fasan “Doppelshräg” (double slant) with the red dot on the cap with original matching “clam shell” case.
I have researched, but I cannot find the date of make or the model number. Does anyone know? There is a lot of confusing information out there! I bet efsk knows
Also, I have seen the same razor but with a red ring on the lower handle. My one looks like a metallic grey. Is this a difference or is it just discolouration?
First up mine, and below that one with the red ring.

Great razors, these Fasan.
The red dots are all post WW2, 1950s-60s era. 1970s Osberghaus, who produced Fasan, had already closed down. There's those with red ring and with metal ring, and both came with plastic or metal cap. Difference is in weight/weight-distribution. Metal rings are a bit heavier than the red rings, metal caps have the weight, obviously, higher up than the plastic caps.
Model numbering was 21 for the red ring w/ plastic cap, 22 red ring w/ metal cap. 121/122 respectively when they came with a clamshell like yours. Not sure about the number of the metal rings. I *think* they're 31/32/131/132. The 40-range is different altogether, the 10-range was used with prewar models..
O, and these not Bakelite, but a different type of plastic.

Perfect reply, thank you efsk!
On the basis of your advice (unless any further clarifying information comes to light) I am calling it a 131 (as a best guess) 1950s-60s in melamine (?)
Always good to have these details available. I did harbour doubts as to this model being constructed from bakelite.
Now all I have to do is get my hands on it and try it out

I shaved with it this morning. Jury's out. A bit "chatty" (I used a reliably good vintage Wilkie) but I'll report back after a week of shaves. It might be that my expectations were high, but while I found the shave kinda interesting it wasn't amazing. I have a vintage bakelite doppelschräg from the 30s-40s which gives a nicer shave
