Welcome to the Official 3017 thread.
Here, we will share our shaves and thoughts, while using one (or more) products EVERY SHAVE, until it's gone. Some of you have done this before---most haven't.
I am 3017'ing a puck of MWF. (Not for the feeble)  Tongue
Monday, February 20

Day Two
[Image: 9psdmt4.jpg]
MWF~~Vie-Long~~1941 Gillette Ranger Tech/Polsilver SI~~Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
Vie-Long's Silvertip Badger has very fine hair, making for a super-soft face-feel.
At the expense of some backbone.
So, if you want a brush that really "digs" into the soap, this isn't it.
Still, got plenty of product in the knot and created a really great, and typical, MWF lather.
The Ranger Tech has a small gap and only a modicum of blade-feel, but in the right hands, will shave any stubble.
Finished with a stupendous stank.

Now, let's see how many brave souls we have here at TSN... Sherlock

Good idea for a thread, Primo.

I've never done a 3017 for an unused product.  A few times in the past, when a soap was nearing its end, I've done a 3017 to finish it off.

I am the poster boy for Attention Deficit Syndrome, if I suggested this to my wife, even with a straight face, she would collapse into fits of convulsive hysteria.

Doesn't have to be a new puck. Anything used to the end qualifies.

Is a good thread and I look forward to it.  Not in though as I like the variety too much.

If I can tweak the concept just a wee bit, I’m in with a newly started tub of SDM Unscented that I grated and pressed into a better container. I essentially shave 5 times a week nowadays. Gimme one shave a week of something else and I’ll play Sisi1

Day Three
I didn't bloom the MWF, due to the daily usage, but the Rubberset didn't pick up as much soap as yesterday's Badger.  Doubt
The CC and my neck have a love/hate relationship.
Vintage Aramis Havana is stupendous.

I didn't know this was a thing. generally, I do this usually for a season. Right now Schapenmelk is my winter soap, Lustray Blue Spice is my winter splash, and Prep is my winter post shave balm.  I thought it was just laziness combined with an inability to make a decision. Now that I know it's a thing, well, I am all set for 2023 or should I say 3017.

The purpose is to use up product. Nothing else.

I have used this SDM soap for perhaps a half dozen shaves before today. It’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts when used at an 80% rate (that’s about the best I can do Undecided). The previous occupant of the container was Mike’s Natural Unscented, which is about the hardest of the artisan soaps I’ve tried. iirc, that lasted a bit over two months of shaves.[Image: 3imOSo8.jpg][Image: U68dK55.jpg]

Day Six
[Image: Yb6uwl7.jpg]MWF~~Simpson M7~~Barbasol Floating Head/Polsilver SI~~Vintage Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
As one can easily see, MWF, when in competent hands, creates a sumptuous, thick, rich, protective leather.

While it'll take some time to knock out this soap, the journey is a terrific one.
Yesterday's Brut was declared the "King of Fougères".
Today's PR is hereby crowned "Kaiser".
Let the people be told...

Primo, are you noticing any difference in the lather with the soap staying hydrated with daily use?

Soaps, such as MWF, can really dry out when left unused. Daily usage definitely makes loading easier. I am also not afraid to put some water on the puck while I am preparing the rest of my shave.
Some guys get their panties in a bunch when it comes to "blooming"---claiming it makes no difference, etc. Personally, I don't subscribe to that notion. Bloom on, young man!

Day Seven
[Image: SLwWj3S.jpg]

MWF~~PL8~~Red-Injun 101~~Vintage YSL M7
Always a pleasure to wield the Böker Red-Injun No. 101. Keen edge and ergonomically correct for my hands.
The MWF keeps chugging along and together with the PL8, made for some super suds.
I still bloomed it whist showering; that's my modus operandi...and proud of it.
Finished with the first Oud fragrance marketed to the west.

It occurs to me that 3017ing a soap can also include lathering one’s unbleached bristle brushes between uses to facilitate speedier consumption and tip splitting Wink

Absolutely! Just because you make a nice lather, doesn't mean you have to shave with it. I've done as you suggest many times breaking in a new brush, plus I get to use all my lather bowls, and mitigate the hogness that some brushes have. It's a worthwhile activity!!
