I just bought the Rockwell 6S Matte Black.
Never tried the original as I wasn’t a fan of the brushed metal finish it had.
I still think the head design looks a bit clumsy, but everyone I’ve spoken to says it’s a bargain razor for the price.
Many has the Rockwell as their favourite razor over much more expensive DE razors.
What do you say ?
Do you like it or was it a disappointment ?

Claus, I had owned a brushed 6S few years back but ended up selling it after using it for a while. It shaves alright but the clumsy look got me bored and I lost interest in it after an year or so.
Also, the other two plates were redundant for me, no4 worked best for me.
You are right on the pricing point though.

Hey Jags,
Good to hear from you again.
I’ll give it a chance before I make my final judgement on the razor.
Must say the presentation of the Rockwell 6S matte black is very nice.
It comes in an all black box with a silver coloured lining.
I do ‘fear’ the black coating might come off at some point in the future but my razor right out of the box was flawless and in perfect condition.
I did my first shave using plate 5 and 2 and started with the Rockwell blade, that came with the razor.
This Rockwell blade unfortunately did not go well with my beard and I immediately took it out and replaced it with a Gillette Platinum (my go to blade - unfortunately made in Russia, so when my stash is gone, I won’t be repurchasing it).
After replacing the blade I got quite a smooth shave and very quickly found the angle to make this razor cut my stubble very efficiently. I had 4 days growth.
It shaved it off very easily without clogging the razor.
I expected to feel the head would have a clumsy feel to it since the plate is designed so one can turn it around to change the aggressiveness of the razor.
But I was pleasantly surprised - it shaved the hairs under my nose with ease, the head glided smoothly under my nose without any problems.
All in all I got a very good shave with my new Rockwell razor.
I’ll be testing it further over the next weeks.
What are your favourite DE razors at the moment, Jags ?

Claus, I recently won a Carbon Graphite in a raffle and it has quickly become one of my favorites. It's a good looking razor and a wonderful shaver. Got it with the standard base plate. Pic attached.
Am also enjoying Muramasa adjustable these days. At 3.5 scale it's giving me some great shaves.
Bought a Blutt 0. 86 last year. Mild shaver. Again one of my favorites.![[Image: 7d517f17551e64c1fce09ea3b4f4bf43.jpg]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230307/7d517f17551e64c1fce09ea3b4f4bf43.jpg)

I got the brushed 6S and liked it at first. It's heavy compared to all of my other razors. I found that I used the #4 plate, like Jag, and didn't bother with the others. However, if I ever have a tuck (or more) of some goofy brand blade, I'm sure I can use it with the Rockwell. Some of my favorite classic Gillettes don't play well with some goofy blades, but all the spare plates with the Rockwell give me some great options to match the blade. Yeah, I know... the old Gillette Slim and Fat Boy are adjustable, too. IMHO they're not as widely variable as the Rockwell is with its variety of plates. At the end of the day, it's not my favorite razor, it's not my most expensive razor, it's not my coolest razor, but it's one I'll keep forever just because it'll be versatile and adaptable and is built well enough to outlast me. Besides, I've already named it ("Norman"), and getting rid of a razor I've named seems like I'd be getting rid of a child or something.
