New Gillette Commercial shows why the Mach3 lasts longer then disposable razors. It appears Gillette is not finished selling Mach3s because a year ago they were saying how the Fusions are much better then the Mach3 razors.

Intersting that the high end European manufacturers like Joris and Czech & Speake sell and promote many variations of Mach 3 and only a couple Fusions. After a normal DE shave just try a Mach 3 or Fusion on the neck area and you will be amazed how good they are. Used that way the blades last a long time and cost does not become a big deal.CoolSmile

I do like multis - particularily the Schick Hydro 5.

That said, I can shave with anything & enjoy DE use most.

It's interesting that Gillette may be rolling back to it's previous flagship product. Has the Fusion proven to be a 'bridge too far' situation? Perhaps they are trying to recapture a lost segment of the Mach 3 customer base when they escalated to the Fusion?

My best guess is that they are trying to pull some of the many disposable razor shavers up to a higher price point and assuming that the jump to the fusion price would not fruitful for them.

IMO, (completely anecdotal based) I think that Gillette and Schick have lost large segments of the shave market to people who simply think all shaving is an ordeal and simply buy the cheapest disposable they can and suffer through shaving.
