Does it look like this hair?

Grid is .75" per dark line.

The two 2-band Rooney brushes I just sent over to Europe looked similar to that.

My Rooney Finests look somewhat similar to that but not exactly the same. I think they have thinner hairs and possibly are more densely packed. But it's hard to compare them to the image.

Definitely more densely packed, but just based on the length of the tips, are they the same?

The hairs closest to the camera are about 80mm away from the paper.

I would have to hold it to give an informed answer but that brush does have the 'look' of finest.

Look at my thread here:

LINK: http://shavenook.com/thread-the-stubby-l...m-f-stubby

The M&F Limited Edition Stubby in the middle has Rooney Finest hair, the other two are Rooney 2-Band Silvertip.
Some say the hair are the same but the density of the Rooney Finest hair makes it look more yellow and feel far more scrubby.

I can just tell you this. My Rooney 2XL and 3XL feel very gentle and soft. My M&F Stubby with Rooney Finest hair feels scrubby and a has abit of scricth.....they feel completely different.

Rooney Finest & Rooney Super badger are different hairs. The tips are longer.

Here's another shot. A better view and perspective of the individual hairs.

What causes the hairs like the Rooney Finest and possibly these hairs to have such longer, whiter tips? Is it a different species? A very specialized portion of the body that it comes from?

The last hypothesis.

You can also use enhancement (bleaching) to achieve longer white tips.

It's like an ultra 2-band. I can't even imagine how it feels.

Probably feels like a Somerset Simpson 2 band. Just my .02. Clauss' description is exactly on par with my experience with my Somerset 2 band. Plus the hairs look the same.

Here is a picture of the two I have. I can try and take a close up of the hair if you'd like.

That wouldn't explain why Rooney isn't making any more brushes, or why other vendors haven't been able to do so.

If someone could replicate the Finest, they'd make a mint as those brushes start at $200.

Looks pretty similar but there are more darker hairs on my finest (ie the darker strands go all the way to top). Can't tell is there are dark strands in your pic. Looking at it from my phone doesn't help.

Are you trying to prove something? Will you be sharing the answer or do you not know?

do we know what knot is pictured yet?

based on a pic, for me it's hard to tell what a certain knot looks like.

to me, it's more the feel of the brush that makes the difference. i wouldn't be able to tell the difference between any of my knots, if you showed me them in a lineup and just showed the tips.

Look and feel are 2 very different things.

I'd also be interested in what the thought behind this is and what becomes of it and hope this isn't headed where I think it's headed Blush

You are assuming there is a lot of this hair and someone else doesn't buy it all up. You are also assuming it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

An extra large Plisson.

Prove something, no. I asked a question because I wanted answers. If I wanted to stir the pot, I'd take a page out of Razor Joe's book.

I don't have a Rooney Finest, so I will not be able to definitely answer the question one way or the other until I get my hands on one.

Wow Celestino! That older brush looks incredible, well they both do, but the older one just looks... I don't even know, amazing.

You speculated it was "enhanced" and I pointed out why it's probably not. Sorry for the confusion.

Recently i received nos 3/3 finest brushes. i have 60+ brushes including simpson two bands, manchurian, plisson hmw two bands mf TGN FS and the others but this finest badger are definetely different.
As you see they are lofty(27mm knot 62-65mm loft) but finest badger hair is really great backbone maybe i have to call it thin hair but like metal spring and enough dense , scrubby also some scritcy as well but im really enjoying with them.
Regards.
