Hey all,

I have a new project that will be underway...

For a 2" wide strop...
What size D ring would be needed/recommended

and what size Chicago screws?

Thanks!

AFAIK, they only come in one size.

D Ring would be the 2" version.

Alternatively, you could just grab the leather itself like an old school strop. Smile

Tandy Leather should have everything you need.

There is a 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 inch screw size

Knew it was too simple to be true. :\

They measure ~3/4" in diameter. Hope that helps!

I know this thread is kind of old, but I'm new here and playing catch up Biggrin

The diameter has nothing to do with the measurements, when you choose a size you're talking about the length of the post, so no one can tell you what size you'd need.....it all depends on the thickness of the leather you're using

I got some leather to make my own strops and tried scavenging the hardware off my horsehide strop just to test fit the piece I made for the ends and, as it turned out, the leather I had was about twice as thick as the endcaps on the horse strop, so they weren't even close to fitting

Thanks Kavik! That makes perfect sense. Didn't think the diameter changed.
