Out of the loop awhile, I'm still getting hip to what's new in the wetshaving scene.

Today, a gent on Twitter recommended I get a Cadet razor, a brand of which I'd hitherto not heard.

I asked for a pic of the "dirt cheap" razor and II was floored. It was gorgeous, 3 ounces and 23 dollars.

A subsequent Google search hipped me to the fact that the beautiful, robust-looking OC head I'd seen on this gentleman's razor can be purchased, independent of a handle, for 12.99 from ShaveaBuck...

Going to the ShaveaBuck website, I saw complete razors only, no solo heads for sale. Are they still avsailable?

I think the Shave-a-buck Cadet open comb razor heads sold out pretty quickly.

The Cadet TP-26, TP-27, the razors that carry that open comb head, are both still available at Shave-a-buck. The TP-26 is also available at Bullgoose as the Excalibur and at Italian Barber.

For me it's a great razor, being more aggressive than my vintage Gillette's and Merkur 34c, but not super aggressive like the 2011 Muhle R41.

It doesn't seem shaveabuck will be getting in the open comb heads only any time soon. Not much profit in it.

Makes sense. The two more expensive models are very attractive looking. I think I'll cop the black-handled one.

I have this model, it's a great razor on its own and when you take cost into consideration it's a remarkable value.

I have no first hand knowledge but from what I've read here, it sounds like they are the same.

Just buy the razor, no? The price difference means one is getting a good-quality handle for a song. I have the Cadet TP models 24 and 26. One with OC, the other with a safety bar, and I can mix 'n' match 'em. It satisfies the Urge. Biggrin

Bjorn, Cadet razors were introduced by Joe at Shave-a-buck and have become so popular they are being sold by other respected vendors as well. Phil has some at Bullgoose and uses the Cadet name to sell them. Joe at Razorock is selling them under his own brand.

By any name, these pieces are becoming the Next Big Thing as word spreads. I really like the two I have and plan to buy a TTO model once I've read some more reviews.
