Just tried this out of curiosity. It looks like a generic version of the King of Shaves shave gel. Looks like hair gel. It actually provided for a smooth close shave. For $1, it's a steal.

Dollar stores usually have junk in the shaving sections but every once in a while there is a diamond in the rough, as you found. I always walk by that section whenever I'm in a $1.00 store, just in case. Wink

Does it lather ? I pick it up every time I'm in there, and always put it back down.

I don't bother with what I see there in the way of shaving creams, save for on one occasion in which they stocked up on Wilkinson Hydro Latherless SC (from England). It is good? No. But I bet it's better than any of the other latherless creams sitting on the shelves, looking so unappealing in their cheap packaging.

(I should say in the Wilkinson's latherless' defense that it is better than Cremo Creme, Nuetrogena & that UTTER _GARBAGE_ Keihls puts out.)

Not sure if it's the same stuff but I tried the "Rise" shaving cream I found at my local dollar tree and it was some pretty lousy stuff.

Rise actually produced the first canned shaving cream.

I've never used the canned or latheless...

It will. I didn't try too hard. Just used it in more of it's raw form.

So it was Dollar Tree brand? What did it smell and feel like after it was on the face?

I have a few tubes of the Rise, though I've never been tempted to actually use it.

I got a tube of Rise - as part of a generous PIF - and it's not bad as far as brushless creams go.

That said, when I'm at home I much prefer creams and soaps that require a brush.

If you don't shower before your shave the Rise makes for a decent pre-shave to help get those whiskers ready for whacking while you load up the brush. It is pretty slick stuff, but I haven't tried using it alone.

I saw the Shaving Gel the other day when I picked up some Glycerin Soaps.

And they do look just like the King of Shave Gels.

But, I did not buy any of it as I prefer something that lathers.

Now I do have three nonfoaming shaving creams and one Gel but, I will use them up when I am doing the touch ups after shaving.

Another nice thing about this shaving gel is there is very little residue on the razor and blade post shave. I only finding myself rinsing it off. No need to scrub it.
