At the present time Hurricane Sandy is expected to make landfall in New Jersey begining Sunday afternoon. We at Shave a Buck http://www.shaveabuck.com are located about 5 miles direct straight line to the Atlantic Ocean. The Counties of Ocean which we are located in and Monmouth which we border on is expected to be hardest hit. Some modules have the storm landing in the Township of Brick NJ where we are located.

While we are certain to be safe during the storm it is the aftermath that we are most concerned for. Should there be long term power outages or damage to the overhead wires we will be without power and internet service. Even with a generator we still need the overhead wires that bring us internet service.

In the event this does occur there will be shipping delays as well as communication issues with us, please keep this in mind in the next few days. I will keep you posted once we know more and a direct path of the storm is better known.

I hope all in the storms path are safe and good luck!

The Asbury Park Press now reports the storm to come ashore in Ocean County where we live. Thanks for the above thoughts. It is madness here with nary a candle or battery to be had. Thank god I still have them left over from Irene last year as well as a propane lantern and four bottles of fuel for it. Home Depot or Lowes is the last place to be right now and besides they are out of everything from Plywood on down. I work up north so I can perhaps grab some on the way home.

Joe, best of luck. I'm up in rockland county, NY, right on the north jersey border. I saw all of the mandatory evacuations of the Jersey coast. Just got back from home depot, plenty of plywood here, and there were actually some batteries left.

Be safe!

In my intentions as I wake for vigils (some habits die hard), and of course throughout the ordeal.

Stay safe Joe and everyone.
We have the same situation here in the PA Poconos and SE NY (Orange County), where I work.

I work at a hospital so at least I know that there will be power from the generators at work.
