I really like the Semogue 1250. A comparison with the similar size Omega 10005 follows:

The 1250 is more densely packed with thinner bristles in a 22 mm knot than the 10005 with a 24 mm knot.

The 1250 has bloomed out more after 5 lathers than the 10005 after 15 lathers.

Both brushes perform well in producing lather for 3 passes.

I too have one of the Omega 10005 brushes and it is a very good brush. But, I prefer all of my Semogue brushes to the Omega.

I just don't have my 1250 figured out yet. Some days I can get a great lather from it while others days it just seems to eat all the soap and doesn't produce lather at all. I'm getting much more consistent results already from a couple other new boars that I'm currently breaking in.

Well I'll be, Brian? My experience with the 1250 has been completely favorable. Huh

The attached photo shows how the Semogogue 1250 has bloomed compared to the Omega 10005.

My thin experiece with boar has been with Omega and it was not a good one for me. Maybe I need to try a Semogue to inch my way toward an alternative to my badgers (and who knows, enjoy it!!) and at the same time better qualify for my wetshaver card. Rolleyes

I have five boar bristle brushes, and I use them almost exclusively. It can take a while to break them in, but I think it's worth it!

Yeah, I need to play with it more. Since it didn't work great for me initially I have to admit that it's been on the sidelines a lot and seen limited action. I may begin using it every couple nights for some test lathers to see if I can figure her out.

So how are you liking the 1250?How would you compare it with the other Semogues or Omegas?

I'm pretty happy with my four Omega boar brushes. However, from the limited use I've made of the Semogue 1250, I think it'll probably be a better brush for me than the Omegas. Johnny encouraged me to get a Semogue SOC, so I have one on order with Phil. Smile

I must have had an off night as I've lathered with the 1250 a couple times today & it's worked just fine. They were test bowl lathers and I'll have to try a palm lather tonight. Maybe it was me or maybe it was the soap.

Well I sure hope it'll keep working for you, Brian. Smile
