I've been making mentions of wetshaving lately in my local barber shop and there seemed to be plenty of interest. 3 out of the 4 barbers are under 40, so are not that familiar with the old school way of wetshaving. So, today I brought in some shaving gear and did a quick demonstration. I imagine there will be at least 8 new people joining our little community soon. Two of the barbers provide straight shaves(single edge) for there clients and charge 11 bucks extra for this. They also use goop shaving cream and there fingers to apply cream. Not only did I change there way of personal shaving, but I believe I will in fact make them more money(was not my original intention) at their barber shop! They can probably charge at least $20 for a shave(once they perfect their new technique) using quality products like a straight, a brush, soap/cream, and some AS. It was pretty cool how interested they were in my little hobby. I had to write down every website I know before I left that place.

Awesome, well done Noah!

My barber used to do straight shaves but he won't do them anymore. He still will use a shavette to clean up my neck-line and around my ears. He uses one of those hot lather machines and just uses his fingers. I have to be honest that if those barbers take to it then I'm a bit envious of all their customers!

Keep in mind that there may be state and local laws that, for health reasons, will not permit barbers to use a regular straight or a brush.

I'm pretty sure Truefitt and Hill in Chicago use a straight and brush. Not positive

art of shaving in a local mall here does shaves in their store. I'm almost positive that they have to use a razor with a disposable cartridge due to local laws.
