I was about to post a WTT thread but thought I'd ask for some opinions first.
I have Duke 2 in Best and I love the brush! Just broken in, feels very soft, short loft is great, handle is more or less comfortable, but I feel it's just a little too small.
Every time I use it, it's a love/hate thing, I love the brush but hate myself for not getting Duke 3 for $20 more.
Duke 3 adds only 2 mm to diameter with the same loft, handle length is increased by 5 mm (I think). Not much of a difference really.
Anyone owns both? Will this trade make me happy? What do you think?

i had a D2 and sold it after having similar experience as you. i found it too short.

i was bowl lathering at the time and that may have been my issue. i know own a D3 and find it to be near perfect. great handle for face and bowl lathering.

if you want even a bit bigger, you could always reknot a Vulfix 404 like I did Wink

the D3 is what you want. Biggrin

cheap and easy: ReKnot Thread

buy a 404 and a knot and a TGN 2 Band Finest XH, and you got yourself a 2 band Duke 4 Tongue

Well, Chubby 2 is too big for my liking, Duke 2 is too small, SOC is perfect size but I like Best instead of 2-band Angry
I should just quit picking and go back to lathering canned foam with my hands Biggrin
On the other hand I have Shavemac on the way Aaaaa

Both are great brushes but I found the Duke 3 fit me better. There are a ton of options though, I do like that 404 idea.

Steve, your intuition was spot on. The Duke 3 would be a better fit for you. However, i like Bruce's idea very much. Good luck either way.

I used my D4 today and can't say enough good things about it. It was a fantastic face lathering brush experience.

It also made a fun project. Cool

I owned a Duke 2 Best and a Duke 2 2-Band - both were fantastic.
BUT - over time, the handle annoyed me a bit - and now I own a Duke 3 2-Band and a Duke 3 Manchurian - and no Duke 2's, go figure Smile .... Wink

For me though - the Chubby 2 is the perfect brush - handle wise and knot shape wise - I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE this brush, so much that I own it in 2-Band, Best 3-Band and Manchurian, and strongly consider getting it in 3-Band Super also...........

It was a play on words, but looking at the difference between the D3 and the 404, it does look like a D4 if Simpson were to make one.

Until they do, my 404 Re-Knot, aka D4, will suffice Tongue

Brilliant answer , Freddy.Wink

I have owned a Duke 2 and 3 Duke 3 and I prefer the Duke 3 : more hair and a more comfortable handle to hold too.

It's a great brush, I mean it, just a bit too small for me, it may be perfect for you.

No. Too big for me. I prefer my two Duke 1 (one in pure and one in best).
