First off I would like to welcome you to TSN. I have been using the NOS bakelite slant which is made in Germany and probably by Merkur for a while now and can agree with Leisureguy that it is an excellent shaver despite its extremely light weight. It slices the beard rather then a straight cut resulting in a very close and smooth shave. You use this razor like any other double edge.

I like the look of this razor (I've yet to try a slant bar) but I really wish I'd picked one up when they were still being sold on the 'bay. Although not a bad price, I'm in the UK so after customs and shipping it turns into quite an expensive plastic razor.

I really hope it's as good as everyone says - it's the one I got slanted (bad pun, I know) for next week.

People I trust on this very forum says it's a great shaver. People not on the forum says it's a great shaver. No one I've seen so far says it's a bad shaver. That was good enough for me to jump on the option when one was offered at a good price.

And if I find that it's not a razor for me... well, then I'll list it on B/S/T and let someone else have it.

Hello Gents,

I was a bit skeptical about this razor but was fortunate enough to obtain one via "Slantman" - Jerry recently and took it for it's maiden voyage this morning. All I can say is...UNBELIEVABLE shaver!!

I admit, I love my Merkur Slant and is used frequently in my rotation but this Bakelite version will give it some stiff competition.

I loaded a Gillette Super Platinum (Black) Blade in the razor, did my usual prep, face lathered D.R. Harris Lavender Soap and went to work. The result was a fine BBS shave with zero irritation. Even though this razor is quite light, the weight is towards the head thus little pressure need be applied to achieve a great shave.

I'm glad this razor lived up to the hype and I'm sure will be part of my rotation...I highly recommend it.
