I'd like to offer a public and heartfelt apology to Tabac. Tabac, when we met I was a new young wet shaver. You smelled funny but you lathered well. I moved onto prettier scents with less performance and I had to try pretty much everything. I'm very glad I returned to try you again. The scent still isn't one that I love, but the performance is still top notch. I'm sorry and I'll try to keep you around this time. I'm glad that you took me back

Love
Dave

Sorry Dave; once you've left Tabac, you can never go back. You must now send all of your Tabac sticks and pucks and creams to me and I will dispose of them for you.

Tabac is a very unforgiving mistress !

Dave, you can at least feel some relief that the TABAC would be staying in the great state of TN.

I look at it like this... some days I feel like TABAC, some days I don't. Everyday though, it performs flawlessly.

Dave, for a moment I was afraid that you were going to throw her to the curb.

A few years ago I had a similar love affair with Tabac, visiting almost every day. As I recall, my nose wondered as I became enamored with the easy lather of Palmolive shave sticks and then promiscuously jumping from one soap to another until I developed a serious lanolin addiction with MWF and Mike's Natural.

I know that some day, I'll clean up and revisit my bowl of Tabac, so it's good to hear that she took you back.

Some days, I don't care for Tabac, other days I reach for something else. Biggrin

The scent is just too much for me. Even though you can air it out over a week and dissipate most of it, it's still so...bad.

Isn't it nice that you can order a soap or cream on the internet and have several different scents to choose from.

Just imagine before the days of the internet that your choices were limited to the Cans of Goo that still line the Shaving Section of your favorite Grocery Store or Drug Store.

Only every now and then would you even find a puck of Williams Soap.

Tabac still smells like old man to me. I use it once every two months or so because it just plain works.

All that being said at the rate I'm going it's going to take a decade to use my Tabac shave stick.

Some days I really love the scent, other days it's just meh. Not bad but not impressive either. That said, there is just something about holding that bowl in my hand when I'm loading my brush. It. Just. Fits. Perfectly. So. Comfortable.

Tabac smells like disco. It provided me with a good enough shave, but I don't have the nose or the platform shoes to handle it.

While I have nothing but love for Tabac, I will admit that DRH Marlborough is very very close in performance, if not the same, and the scent is great too. (definitely would be more generally appealing to the masses I would think). Gud Stuff.

Yeah, DRH Marlborough has a much more "refined" scent to it, still a musk but a much more pleasant musk.

I happen to like the scent of Tabac and love the performance of the soap. However, I do have to be in a "Tabac scent" mood when shaving. I know that when my current puck is gone it will be replaced.

Rather than airing out you Tabac, aim to keep it hydrated, which is easier with the stick. The scent becomes much more palatable.

I personally don't mind the scent, but don't reach for the soap that often these days, as I have quite a few that perform better.

Tabac and Williams are lifelong friends I don't know how many pucks and sticks I have been through. I do remember when the bath soap used to come in those little burlap bags. It was a favorite gift to the male family members in my house. The scent never gets old to me.

The scent is on the heavy side. Either you like it or not.
But the performance...mighty, mighty fine!
