The Miami Marlins are an embarrassment to Major League Baseball. The owner fleeced taxpayers for a new stadium, they're not even trying to field a competitive team, and if Commissioner Selig had a pair, he'd do something about it.

Anyway, I just felt like saying that out loud. I feel sorry for all 37 of their fans.

I feel badly for them too. They have more semiannual firesales than most furniture stores.

I think they should start contraction talks again and take the team away from Loria. It is an absolute joke!

All of sports is a shame with unbelievable salaries that runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars. The residents of Miami/Dade County didn't have to vote for an enclosed stadium but they did and the City Of Miami approved the deal. The trades seem to be perfectly legitimate even so many people don't like it and think its a rip off. Whats funny about the Marlins they have been doing this for years and have won two World Series in a very short time. No other team has ever done this.

Selig works for the collective owners' pockets first and foremost, the greater image of the game's a far distant concern. 'Less'n those other guys feel it is hurtin' their pockets, you'll hear nothing from him on the matter.

I'd really like to see a minimum player payroll threshold, in addition to the luxury tax system they've implemented.

I think there should be a cap but more importantly, a minimum. Call it the Miami Marlins Minimum.

Wasn't Loria the owner who ran the Expos into the ground?

Yep.

Sorry I didn't follow this closely enough. So he ran the Expos to the point MLB had to take over the team ..... and then MLB lets him buy another team? God what idiotic thinking.
