I got a tub of XXX this week, and the wife quite likes it. I know it's a sort of "designer imposter" of Acqua di Parma. I went out and priced some of their cologne and aftershave, and suffice to say I won't be getting any anytime soon.
However, I was wondering if the educated schnozzes here could suggest either 1) an aftershave with some staying power or 2) a cologne that complements XXX or smells like it? If possible I'd like to stay at or below the $15/oz price point.

Eric,
You might want to post a WTB ad for the Acqua di Parma cologne. I picked some up inexpensively that way a couple years ago from a member of another forum who simply had too many colognes and aftershaves. Unfortunately, I eventually developed a rash with it, as with most colognes, so I then sold it cheaply on the forum too. Someone out there may have some extra.

Try pairing it with 4711. Though the splash doesn't linger all day, it is great feeling and reasonably priced. I get little reminders of it for quite a while, though I wouldn't describe it as a persistent fragrance. The citrus notes complement each other very well.
I haven't tried the cologne, but now seems to be a good time to do so.

Do you just splash on the Florida Water? I have a bottle of Murray & Lanman's and love the smell. I mistakenly splashed some on my face after a shave and had a Macaulay Culkin moment.

It doesn't seem strong enough for application on pulse points.

I do splash it ...and it does have a burn. I also keep some in an atomizer at work for touchups.

So far, after a few hours on the back of the hand, I'm really liking it. The main notes are very similar to XXX, so I think this would make a fine cologne pairing.
Where did you purchase it from?

Parfum1; they had a 15% off sale at the time. I paid $25 shipped.

Do you know if they also make an aftershave splash?
