I just received a custom Simpsons Rover in my current favorite hair offered- 2 Band Super. Here's some unboxing porn for your Sunday night enjoyment. Specs are 22.7 knot, 51.5 loft. Notice in lieu of a sticker, we have the new SiLVERTiP engraving that has popped up of recent in the Simpson line. According to Mark, it is the first of it's kind made. Enjoy!

That's a sharp brush. I like that Silvertip Badger engraving in place of the sticker.

Wow, what a beautiful brush, and the trio as well. The new engraving also really adds some class. Mark is doing some really special stuff these days, enjoy your new brush!

I have no idea what is up with the leaflet, but it was what was inside the box. The other two Rovers are a Somerset in pure, and the current WCS Rover LE in best. Both the Best and 2 band have not been used yet.

What a nice bunch of brushes!
Fantastic.

Thanks for noticing the SiLVERTiP phenomenon.

Elsewhere (here http://shavenook.com/thread-two-emperors, to be precise) I reported on some new Emperors and we discussed about Super Badger and Silvertip Badger a bit indeed.

I have never realized the spelling of Silvertip as SiLVERTiP, but my Emperors have the same lettering:

Are we witnessing an historic moment? The silent launch of a new line of Simpsons hair grades?

Their site still indicates:
Quote:Simpsons only use selected Chinese Badger Hair, which is sorted, dressed and sterilised by a London firm whose origins date back to the 16th Century. Three grades of Badger Hair are used: Super, Best and Pure.

I am curious to learn more!

Absolutely lovely brushes Jeff. The Rover is truly an original and the 2 band knot just compliments the Rover handle perfectly.

On a side note, how does this run of 2 band hair compare to the Duke 3 2 band hair some chap foolishly sold you? Sad Do they feel similar to you?

Before Progress-Vulfix company, owned by Mark, bought Simpson, they were owned by Somerset. So older generation Simpson brushes are referred to as 'Somerset'

The Somerset brushes don't have the sticker logo on the brush.......
