Looking for a X-mas gift for a gal who likes a almond scent. Which one would you suggest? I have tried Cella but never tried the R-160 . Which one smells and performs better Cella or R-160? As always YMMV.

If you have never tried either, you won't know the difference. I prefer P160, there are still some available, I think Biggrin

Never tried R-160, but Cella will always have a spot in my rotation. Very natural almond scent. I've tried P.160, and that seems to have a more synthetic scent to my nose, and it broke me out slightly, so I may be biased as well. Undecided

Well, seeing as R.160 is almond and Cella is cherry you're asking us to compare almond to cherry.

Which scent is better for you?

Performance wise it's R.160 for me as far as goodness for the skin and during the shave, no contest. Cella is a lathering champ, but not so kind to the skin, but R160 is just a hairsbreadth behind in lathering if at all. Cella is not so good scentwise unless it ages for quite awhile too. When it's fresh I found it quite disgusting. Aged it's quite nice.

Interesting reply I cant say as I smell much cherry in Cella, maybe a little but not much. More a bitter almond. I guess the nose is different to everyone. The girl I'm shopping for likes almond so flip a quarter. Which one is slicker then. I know Cella is fairly slick but I have found it a little temperamental to get it just right. So I guess which one is less temperamental to get it slick and protective she has had a bad time with the dreaded razor burn on her legs.

Sunflake, I should have qualified my statement. Your nose probably is the same as mine.

I got a really fresh batch of Cella and the cherry was absolutely knock your socks off strong- close to a deal breaker for me. As it has mellowed the cherry is still there but muted and there may be a bit of almond mixed in. I wonder if it's intended to hang around a bit before it's put to use? Maybe in a warm Mediterrean climate? Wink It ought to come with a disclaimer to not use it until it's been unwrapped for 3+ months.

When I first used my Cella I thought it was the scent from hell and I reported it as such. Now I've changed my tune. But it still isn't R-160. R-160 was pure almond to my nose.

I get nothing but pure almond from Cella. I could bathe with the stuff. YMMV? Biggrin

Well I can certainly understand not liking the scent if it was that strong can't say that I blame you on that one maybe R- 160 is the way will have to go.

I know this was not an option but P.160 if you can get it is better than either. Also I don't get the cherry from Cella.

I would have to say R-160 but Cella is very close.

It's just olfactory association. Maraschino cherries are flavored with bitter almond extract. If your first experience to this scent was from cherries then I think you associate it with cherry instead of almond.

My mom used maraschino cherries in her cooking a lot, so everything I have that's almond reminds me of cherries. Some are just sweeter than others & I think Cella is one of the sweetest ones to me.

I've written it before... I'm almost continually amazed by the sense of smell.

One of my favorite shampoos is, strange as it may seem, L'Oreal Kids cherry-almond burst. I always thought the scent combo was strange, but they are apparently very similar, and are a common combination. I can absolutely understand that people can get cherry notes from supposedly almond-scented things, as almond oil and maraschinos definitely have a similar profile, but I tend to associate cherries with a much sweeter, more candy-like note than most. Just my 2¢.

I greatly prefer Cella to R160 in both scent and performance (at least to me). To echo others thoughts, P160 is best.

I haven't tried R 160 but I prefer P 160 a great deal more than Cella. P 160 lathers ALOT better than Cella and the scent of P 160 is one of my favorites. I ended up selling my Cella awhile back.

For me the Cella is a very good cream / soap.It has a very nice scent and for the skin it has great care.

I like it as much as i like my Valobra Almond.Until now i haven´t tried the R 160 because i have these 2 (Valobra and Cella) in rotation. But my cella has got a "problem":

The edge of the soap is coloured darker than the rest.I´ve read that is normal...but i think that it isn´t normal.Could it be that my cella is bad or "out of date"?

It couldn´t be out of date because Soaps don´t have an date of expiry i think or?
