The Post Office has announced that they are going to start an experimental new service called Metro Mail. It will only be tested & implemented in large metropolitan cities. The way it works is a customer can ship a package via the Post Office and it will be delivered the same day for $10. At this time is not meant for out of city delivery (ie, New York to Los Angels).

Very interesting. That's actually cheaper than if I need to Express Mail something downtown.

Local courier services can be a good option, albeit very expensive compared to the USPS. Fifteen minute same-city delivery rates near me are around $20 - $50. Two hour same-city delivery rates are around $10 - $40. They don't always use bicycles, as it depends on the parcel size. For wetshaving gear, it should not really matter. USPS deliveries withing a 50 mile radius usually take two days from what I have seen.

Heh, i used to work as a bicycle courier in Vancouver and that is the quickest way to deliver a package unless it was a very large box! i wonder if they will start using bikes for this service to cut down on costs. Hee hee.
