looking to see what you gents think is the least aggressive to the most.

the OCMM is, without a doubt, the most aggressive SE I've ever shaved with. It's so aggressive that I had to stop shortly after getting into my shave to put the blade in my 1912 to finish it out.

I've only shaved with 1912's and OCMM's and felt both were a bit on the mild side.

To me 1912 is as aggressive as OCMM, pushbutton and shovelheads are milder.

OK, before I do this... I've been told I'm the only person known to think that the ER '14 is mild. Yet I do. Maybe it's my one example. If I have a second ER '14 I probably should dig it out someday to double check the shave.

Too, the first Damaskeene I had was quite mild. It's in the listing as (1). My second one is more aggressive and is listed as (2). It could be minor tolerance differences that are the culprit. It doesn't take much.

I've only listed the razors I've used even if I know the heads are identical on others (Contour being the same as the Featherweight and H-Bar) and should shave the same.

Razors listed on the same line are so close as to be difficult to judge different levels of aggressiveness.

And of course YMMV always rules!

From least to most:

GEM Featherweight, G-Bar
Valet AutoStrop (VAS) VC3 & VC4
GEM Damaskeene (1), VAS VC1 & VC2, ER '14, Gem ClogPruf
GEM Damaskeene (2)
GEM Jr, Gem '24
GEM 1912, ER '24 (the "Shovelhead")
GEM OCMM (deceptively aggressive- very efficient!)
ER '07 Lather Catcher
ER '06 & '05 lather Catcher
Kampfe '13 (also Hero) lather catcher (like using a blade glued onto a popsicle stick!)

did you mean a G-Bar? if you meant an H-Bar, do you have a photo of ones of those?

Correction made. Biggrin You mean close isn't good enough? That this isn't hand grenades and artillery?

Out of what I have used...

Least to most:
GEM 1912
GEM 1924
Damaskeen
Valet VAS 1
ER Shovelhead
OCMM

I should really try a featherweight or G-bar come next May.

your SE posts intrigue me so I had to make sure I wasn't missing out on some hot sexy GEM. Biggrin

what is the GEM push button considered to be? just the GEM push button...?

Push button shaves like a featherweight to me, not sure if it's in the same family.

SE aggressiveness:

Most efficient/aggressive: OCMM

Everything else is mild.

That's my view, here's what I'd say for others:

OCMM > '24 "shovelhead > Streamline = Valet AutoStrop VC1 > Clog-Pruf = 1912s > HFT = Feather Weight

I probably forgot some that I've tried but I'm out right now. I'll revisit this later though.

Not sure about later model Gems. They just don't interest me very much, so I could be wrong. I think the Contour and the push button are different names for the same razor. It has a similar head compared to the G-bar and Featherweight from what I gather. Now I could be very wrong on that. As I wrote, not much interest on my part, so it goes in one ear and out the other, but some does collect on the dust between the ears.

For me the ER 1924 "Shovel Head" is the most aggressive.
In order from least to most
GEM Contour II
GEM Clog Pruf
GEM OCMM
GEM 1912
Ever Ready 1924

So far in my experience:

(Mild to wild)

G-bar
Damaskeene
1914
Flying Wing "bullet tip"
Junior
Clog-Pruf
Streamline
1912
1924
OCMM

Felt a bit shaky in my ranking as I haven't been too scientific with the GEMs...too busy enjoying the shaves. The "wildest" 3-4 are my favorites currently.

I find the OCCM aggressive and not functional, i get major burns on top of the nicks.

Hello SE fans and experts...

I am curious, where would the Rolls rank on this list??? I picked one up recently and have been eager to try it out, but haven't as of yet. I don't see it on anyone's list above.

Thx!

Maybe I'll just have to give it a try! I've only tried the Gem 1912, though I also have an injector.

No one has included a Cobra on their list... Huh

I haven't used any injectors, so I can't compare the Cobra to any other SE's, but I'm sure others can...

Ben, maybe SE purists consider our beloved Cobra to be a 'wannabe' since it's not a true injector razor ... Tongue

Funny remarks, gentlemen. Sorry to be remiss in leaving out the Cobra.

I know I don't have as much experience as SharpSpine, but I would put it up there with the OCMM, 1924 and 1912. It's a very efficient razor, to be sure.
