When I was about 14 years old, my stepdad thought it would be a good idea to hand me a safety razor with out any instruction and watch what happened. Fortunately I only had to cut myself one time to realize I wasn't ready to shave just yet.

Flash forward about 25 years and I find myself reading an article about traditional shaving on Art of Manliness. I decide its just about time I give the DE another shot. After all, how bad can it be? I've been shaving with cartridge razors over 20 years. Needless to say, with the aid of wonderful sites like AOM, B&B, and TSN, the second try with DE razors went much better than the first. Now 6 months or so in to my second DE experience and I own 4 razors, 4 brushes, and have a cabinet full of soaps, creams, and blades.

My wife says, you only have one face, why do you need so many razors, blades and brushes? My only response is variety. I love trying new combinations. Lately my obsession has lied mainly with soaps. I love the lather that they produce, and my favorites are Mama Bear's Barbershop, TOBS Sandalwood and Mitchell's Wool Fat; however I just placed an order for Mikes Lavandin and Eucalyptus. Needless to say I'm very excited about that. Oh and I also bought one of those TSN Bill Bowls. I always bowl lather, so I can't wait to get that. I did however miss the brush.

At any rate. I wanted to move from lurking to posting and usually the best way to start is with an intro. So I'm glad to be here and look forward to continuing to learn from you all, as well as sharing my shaving experiences with you. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to The Shave Nook. I have bad news for your wife, it only gets worse, not better. Tell her now you will be needing more counter and cabinet space.
