I already have Opus 1870 Penhaligon's cream, TF&H shaving soap and L'Occitane Cade shaving cream and Cade ASB.

Ordered these:

Trumpers Hard Shaving Soap with Bowl Rose
Tabula Rasa: Vetiver/Tangerine
I Coloniali Mango Shaving Cream Soap in Terra Cotta Pot
I Coloniali Soothing Aftershave Emulsion with Rhubarb
Muhle R41 Grande Safety Razor

Very nice pick ups. The iColoniali is fantastic and the Trumpers is a grand perfomer. I hope you can get on with MWF. Due to outrageously hard water, I've never been successful with it.

Thanks Dave. I'm a fan of small scale bottegas that specialize in a certain craft. Usually if they're good.

I've converted to using Distilled water. I may not be very efficient at it (2 liters used per shave - soaking brush, rinsing blade while shaving, rinsing face , cleaning brush) but I've gotten a plethora of results ranging from bursts of lather to a gliding pass of the blade over skin.

If you're using distilled then I'd say MWF will blossom for you.

Thanks Slantman.

I had to order the r41. Firstly because I cannot fathom how it is more aggressive than regular razors and secondly because I prefer having more control on any given tool.

Depends what R41 you get. There is a modified R41 around for a few weeks now, some kind of silent update, which should be better than the original beast. While the cap of the beast is 18.8 mm wide, the new cap has 20.3 mm, i.e. 0.075 mm to each side more, which means that the blade isn't flattering so much. It's said that that reduces aggressivity a lot, but still giving a very close shave. Makes sense to me, I always thought, that the R41 I have is a misconception.

Enjoy the i Coloniali stuff, that is a really good choice! Both the soap and the balm are terrific.

Trumpers Rose soap in wood bowl is in my top 3. I love Rose scents and find Trumpers Rose almost as good in performance as my Harris soaps. I haven't tried the others on your list.

Thanks guys.

Having more than one soap I'll be able to find out whether I'm face lathering wrong or most hard soaps lather is generally less creamy & more foamy than shaving creams.
