I would like to announce(brag)that as of today 12-1-12 I am a retiree. After 30 yrs of service to the Georgia Department of Corrections I am leaving public service.Biggrin

I am still young,48 years of age so I will take a month or two off to relax.I have been gainfully employeed since I was 13 years old and plan to rest a bit. Then I will find another job to do.Hopefully adding that income to my retirement check will result in a nice gain in income.(some of which will be spent on shave gear)Cool

Congrats! Thank you for your service. People who work in corrections don't always get the same praise as Police Officers yet they are just as important.

Congratulations! Remember almost every retiree says they done good for the first ten years and then the cost of living made it rough! A side job is a good thing and finding a home type thing to do for money is great. That way after your second retirement you have a simple income and can enjoy life for more than ten years!

Congrats. Enjoy the freedom to do what you want to do, as opposed to what the boss wants.

Congrats on the retirement! I have come to learn that when most people retire, they get a good month of sitting around doing nothing out of their system before they get bored. This is a great time to figure out those hobbies that you never had time to try out and go do them. After my father retired and started working part time, he started apprenticing as a cabinet maker just because he always wanted to build things out of wood. Now he, and you both have time to do whatever you want!
