I sent off my short handled Merkurs (11c, 34c, 37c) to Bob to get new handles installed. I decided to go with Blue Dyed Box Elder. Bob went to work making the handles, getting them dyed he then sent me pictures of 8 handles so I could pick the ones I wanted. I replied back with the choices and shipped off my Merkurs to him. Bob got the razors and did whatever magic was needed to replace the main handles. While I still do not have the razors back in my possession, Bob did send me pictures this morning.

I can't wait for these to get here!

The Dyed Box Elder is indeed unique. Some parts of the wood soak up a lot of the dye, whilst others soak up almost none at all. Hence seeing bits of the natural color coming through.

I'm going to have Bob do my long handled Merkurs as well. They truly do become one of a kind. Tons of people make handles for the three piece design, but seeing them for a two piece?

Those look very nice. I wonder if he could adapt a handle to fit a Schick Injector.Idea

Would it be easy to dismantle an injector? Given the way they're constructed I'm surprised I haven't seen a custom Injector yet.

Bob is an amazing craftsman. No two of anything are alike.

I got to talking with him on a couple of occasions and found him fascinating. I found our conversations interesting enough that I will be interviewing him for our site.

Interesting tidbit. Bob quoted me a price on the handles a couple days ago I got an email from him letting me know he thought his work would take longer than it did. He lowered the price by $5 per razor. Pure class.

I have several of Bob's shaving brushes, if his razor handles are as finely crafted as those on his brushes, you will be well satisfied, Bob is a master.

Beautiful Doug. I have Dyed Box Elder scales on 3 of my TI Le Grelot straights. Red, green and purple. No blue Sad I think the blue is the nicest of the lot. Congratulations!
